In April 2020 Chase criteria for approving BUSINESS card applications became more stringent. All Chase INK products are business cards. Chase also issues co-branded business cards for United Airlines (2 different biz cards), Southwest Airlines (2 different biz cards), Hyatt and IHG.
For general information about applying for Chase cards, including explanation of the unpublished 5/24 rule, please review the Wikipost of the PERSONAL card thread: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/chas...ds-2023-a.html
Anyone can apply for a business card as a sole proprietor. If your business has a registered company name, which Chase can verify, you may use that name to apply. Otherwise, use only your legal First and Last name as the business name. Do not add any extra words, do not use a made up name. If Chase cannot verify the name the application will fail.

Note: The automated Status Line often shows no record of business card applications. This does NOT mean that there is a problem with your application. You will need to contact Chase to learn the status, or wait for Chase to contact you.
You can use a single Username on chase.com to manage both Business and Personal card accounts, but you will initially need to set them up separately, and then telephonically ask customer service to combine them by merging the Personal account into the Business account. It cannot be done the other way. Once personal account is merged to business account, if all business cards are closed while keeping one (or more) personal cards open, online access to all cards will terminate and a new personal (online) account will need to be created using a different username than previous personal account.
Update: It is possible now to link Business and Personal accounts online. First set them up separately, then log into the Business account and follow this click path: Icon at the top right that looks like a person -> Profile & Settings -> Account Settings -> Manage Linked Accounts. Then look for the "Link relationship" option for the personal accounts. For more information on linking accounts: How to link Chase personal and business accounts?

Hi,
I recently applied for an Ink card, and was denied with the following reasoning: "Too many active accounts or too much available credit on consumer report" - What can I do to get this one approved? I wanted to pick your brain(s) before I call reconsideration line.
Thank you!!

Thanks for the advice I've already received on how to best position myself for trying to get the CSR for Business. I should have mentioned two additional things in my previous, incomplete post:
1. I've been turned down a couple of times during the past year for Citi cards for the following two reasons:
"Your credit report shows a high amoung ot unused credit compared to your available credit lines."
"Your credit report shows too many bank or national revolving accounts."
Also turned down by Wells Fargo for similar reasons this past year.
(Approved for a Capital One Spark and Barclays Hawaiian during this period.)
(No rejections from Chase, though I haven't applied for any Chase business or personal cards in the past year or more. )
2. Right now I have 17 cards (11 business and 6 personal), with 10 of them being Chase (6 business, including 4 of them Ink, and 4 personal).
Under these circumstances, I appreciate the previous advice about perhaps just cutting back my total credit allocation. But it would seem that I'm also better off also cancelling some of my Chase cards, especially two or three of the four Ink cards I have and the Freedom Unlimited Card that is less useful than my Chase Sapphire at this point.
Does this make sense?
Thanks again for any help.

Thanks for the very useful discussion. I'm planning to apply for the Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business, for both the 200K points and the perks. But because I've recently been turned down for a couple of cards (one business, one personal) from other firms recently, with the explanation being that I have too much unused credit, I'm thinking of pruning my cards (which I've held from one to ten years) in the following ways:
1. Mainly closing these Chase business cards: United, Ink Business Unlimited, (the old) Ink Business Plus, Ink Business Preferred. I've transferred all my UR points to my Chase Sapphire Preferred.
2. I'd retain my Ink Business Cash because it offers 5X for phone and internet bills and because it has no annual fee.
3. Also close my Hilton Amex Business.
I'd still have about eight cards that I'd keep for various reasons (eg, free annual hotel nights, 2X points for all spending, Amex Plat for its 5X travel, lounge and other perks). About half of these are Chase and about half are business credit cards.
My credit score is about 800.
Does this approach make sense, in terms of increasing my chances of scoring the Sapphire Reserve for Business and other cards?
Thanks for any advice.

Additional data point for CSR Biz cards, esp. for those who are 5/24:
- I am exactly 5/24, and in June closed my Chase WN Biz card (some speculation that closures can help/hurt new apps).
- Currently have Chase Ink & Chase UA Biz.
- Decided to roll the dice and apply for CSR Biz.
- Submission went to dreaded "pending review"
- Within 24 hours I received a call from Chase Fraud Dept. Needed to confirm my biz contact info and a couple of other items
- Card approved!

Not surprising. Chase has a long and well-documented history of suspending/ignoring/not enforcing SUB restrictions (including 5/24) for some (Ink) business cards and for some new CC products (especially premium CCs) and for some significantly better/“best ever” SUB offers for existing products.
Unfortunately, it’s all “unwritten” so it’s impossible to know what’s what which is why application DPs are so pertinent.

In the last 5 weeks I got denied for both ink preferred and ink unlimited. I cancelled the unlimited 6 weeks ago and the preferred a few years ago.
I called reconsideration and answered questions about my revenue, expected spend and why I needed it. Also had to go through several layers of fraud department.
Got approved for both. I already spent enough to get bonuses on both.
I'll keep the preferred for travel and will cancel CSR. In 2-3 years, I'll cancel unlimited and then reapply for it for the next bonus if they still allow.
I do this cancel and resubscribe every 2-4 years to keep getting UR points.
If allowed, when I cancel CSR, I'll try to get bonus for CSP. But I'm running out of chase options. The Hyatt business card doesn't sound appealing to me to sign up again for (had it and cancelled it).
I might have to start adding Citi or Amex cards which I currently don't have any. But none of them sound appealing to me aside from maybe Hilton cards but I rarely stay at Hiltons. But I want those bonus promos to offset spending. Just nothing seems compelling to me as the airline ones hold very little interest to me as the devaluations are so numerous.

Like you I personally find Chase UR the most useful - in my case for transfers to UA and Hyatt - and I always need more UR. But the high SUBs from other issuers generate miles and points that I can easily use on other airlines and hotels, even if the cpp is lower and even with deval. I have a nice stash with Amex, Citi, and Cap1 that I have been unable to use due to personal schedule limitations but I expect that will change soon.
Chase approvals periodically swing from easy to hard to easy - seems to be middling now. By contrast Amex seems super easy right now with high SUBs - so grab what's hot now and just be mindful of 5/24.

Why would you NOT apply for other cards, unless you are limited by lack of spending capacity (i.e. ability to meet SUB spend requirements)?

But I don't really want to use points for business class as I don't value that experience - I'd rather get chase or Hyatt points to transfer to Hyatt which I value highly. I'm fine with flying exit row economy and using Ritz card $300 a yr benefit to pay for those exit rows or get for free now with AA.
I've already subscribed and unsubscribed to all the Marriott Amex cards as I'm lifetime LTP. I've thought about Aspire and Surpass for Hilton but nothing at Hilton really excites me. If I could get to a Hilton resort, I might get.
If chase allows, I might get the CSR business in a few months to get the bonus points as again i value UR points to transfer to Hyatt.
So I'm balancing between wanting promos and dealing with tracking headaches for coupon credits which I can't really use and when I need to cancel as I don't want to pay high annual fee on Citi strata/ aa cards when I won't really get the benefit.
I wish I could earn more chase points but I now have every chase ur earning card except CSR business. I can easily hit the spend for the sub but I don't like the card's benefits.
I did just register another company in the US and will open a chase business bank account for that company so might be able to start the whole ink subscription again for that business

I live in China so rarely fly US airlines so the benefits of the cards are not useful for me like doordash, Lyft etc which is why I will cancel CSR when it renews because it's clearly a US centric card now for those living in big cities. However, Via Hyatt milestone, I'm now AA platinum so have been thinking about signing up for various Citi cards to get AA miles.

In some ways you are fortunate in that you have an easy decision when it comes to cancelling high-AF cards that play the coupon-book game. But AF makes sense for year one as the SUB is worth far more.

Just as a datapoint, this past spring I had seven Chase business cards (and six personal). I applied for the Chase IHG business several months ago when the offer was 200,000. I was denied.
In response, closed four cards, two personal and two business- Chase sapphire preferred (when reached 48 months but we all know that rule has changed), air Canada (had already redeemed 200,000 points for pay yourself back) as well as ink cash and ink unlimited.
Last month I was approved for the chase ink cash as my 6th business card. I do have a legit business with a chase checking account so they see whatever I make and spend and therefore havent been audited yet. I am pushing up against $150,000 in credit limit, so Im gonna ask for limits to be lowered before I try to get the sapphire business reserve- very much appreciate the datapoint they dont like it when your aggregate limits over $150K.
I do easily spend over $50,000/ year on the chase Hyatt business to get globalist. I also spend $15,000 on the chase Hyatt personal. They may see me as an good customer for spending enough on their cards and holding my business checking account with them. Other than meeting offers, much of my other Credit card spend is with other banks (especially AMEX) chasing signup bonuses.

Chase has been sending email invitations every month for past 4 months or so with subject line "<name>, earn $750 Bonus Cash Back with Chase Ink Business Unlimited"
They include button text that says "Sign in to apply faster" but after signing in, none of the fields are populated. Possibly a sign that its not targeted.
Wondering if getting these email invitations are a sign for higher odds of approval for a UR earning business card that they appear to have gotten stringent over last year. Any thoughts or data points on these direct email invites?
Have multiple Ink Cash CIC cards but never had a Ink Unlimted CIU card. Assuming I get approved for a CIU, will they allow product change to a CIC soon after approval before I do the min spend?
