Sapphire Reserve Annual Travel Credit

How are the dates calculated?
For cards issued prior to May 21, 2017 it was Reimbursed per Calendar year, not membership year. Purchases must be posted (not pending) by your December statement (dated any time Dec 1 through Dec 31) to be credited against current year's $300 credit. Any travel spend that posts after the December statement will credit against the next year's $300 credit.

For cards issued after May 21, 2017, it will be reimbursed by membership year.

But my 2nd annual fee is after May 21, 2017, why didn't my travel credit reset?
Because if you got your card before that date, your travel credit will continue to reset after your December statement.

Does the travel credit count as minimum spend?
Spend is spend, the credit is the credit. The $300 reimbursement is a separate item from spending requirements( the $300 reimbursement on travel, $100 Goes all count towards the $4,000 only the $450 yearly fee doesn't). You must spend $4000 for your signup bonus UR points. If part of that spend is categorized as travel, a credit will post to your account accordingly. They are separate items.

Even if you return a purchase after you've met your $4000 initial spend it will not count against your spend.

Can I get two travel credit fees if I apply in the middle of the year?
Not for applications after May 21, 2017.

As I'm sure others have pointed out, there are ways to get that travel credit without actually traveling. That said, I'm glad I got two hotel stays in before the virus hit; they met my $300 credit. And who knows when I'll travel again?

RNE, suggesting this is another nail in CSR's coffin.

I was just about to post the same question:

Anyone have any tips on how I can spend my $300 travel credit before downgrading the CSR to a non-AF card? I won't be traveling for the next year but have already paid my AF. Thanks for any help!

Can anyone advise where I can get an airbnb gift card that will count towards this credit?

Lacking that:
Do physical delta gift cards count from delta.com?
What about physical hotels.com gift cards from hotels.com?

Looking for ways to use my Sapphire travel credits on mine and my hubby's cards. Not really traveling until next year.

Delta gift cards work? Where do you buy them online so they are coded correctly? (delta.com)
Marriott gift cards? They don't sell them on Marriott.com. But this site: gifts.marriott.com seems to sell them. But my Marriott.com login doesn't work. I don't really want to go to a Marriott hotel right now because of COVID19... I'd rather buy online, but know that where you buy it is important so it codes correctly. Is that gifts.marriott.com even a Marriott site?

And what about AA? where do you buy those? I assume American Airlines website (americanairlines.com), but only use a laptop.

Thanks. Never thought I'd ever have to look for a way to spend Chase's travel credit. I usually get it right away every year since I normally travel several times a year. Sigh.

The wikipost at the top of this thread will be helpful: What counts as travel? [Sapphire, INK, Consolidated] If buying DELTA giftcards be sure not to use a mobile device. To my knowledge it makes no diffference when buying AA giftcards.

The wiki lists airbnb gift cards, but you can't buy these from the website AFAIK.
Any idea where you can purchase them to count towards the credit?

Has anyone ever run into an issue where you had to dispute a charge that was also travel (and therefore using up travel credit)?

I had an erroneous charge from Uber for ~$30, then it burned $30 of my travel credit. I disputed the charge so temporarily received $30 statement credit but they failed to give back my travel credit. I sent a SM but received a random template message about UR which is not what I am getting at.

You received a $30 travel credit and you were refunded for the Uber charge, as I read your post. So you received a $30 travel credit from Chase but spent zero. Why do you want Chase to take back the travel credit, given that you are $30 ahead?

I must have a massive brain fart. For some reason I just thought I lost the money hah. Thanks for pointing out my stupidity. Being cooped up at home 24/7 must be getting to my head.

Don't worry, this same conversation has occurred multiple times over the course of the thread

I can confirm that the eGift card from the Delta website (on a pc, not mobile) did indeed code as a travel reimbursement. The charge posted as Delta Gift Card and I got immediate reimbursement.

Probably not relevant, but was the gift card for more, less, or exactly $300? Also, had you received a reimbursement for any earlier travel expense this year? Thanks for the data points.

I didn't see anyone answer the question.
It USED to be (I don't know if this is still true), that you could "double-dip" in a way by purchasing *something* that coded as travel within 30 days after the Renewal fee hit, and then downgrade and not have it clawed back. I do not know if this is still the case (I didn't see anything in the Wiki).

I found this:
https://pointsyak.com/benefits/can-s...travel-credit/

But that was back in 2017. I don't know if it's still true or not.
