However, later the same day I also requested the credit by Secure Message (for "baggage fees) and it was approved. Very YMMV now but still doable. 2/10/2017
Southwest Airlines GCs work fairly easily. I've generally bought them for $150 and said they're excess baggage fees.

I SMed Chase in regard to this and I was informed that the anniversary free night certificate will not post until my next anniversary in August 2019, which is ridiculous. I hope the rep is misinformed. I’ve had the card since August 2016.

I might be in the same boat as you as my anniversary day is 8/22. Definitely lame if I need to wait until August 2019 as well. Ridiculous that my AX SPG with an early August anniversary date already got a free night cert. Not sure why they had to have different dates for everything.

Yea, I was both surprised and disappointed. I called in today to confirm that I won't receive the anniversary free nights until next August, and inquired about canceling the card and whether the AF will be refunded or not. Unfortunately for me, my AF was posted on 9/09/18, so the rep said the AF won't be refunded even if I cancel today.

so to do this AF trick, requires having more than one chase card?
my wife only has the Ritz card...so if i wanted to take adv, id have to get her to get another chase card? like a no fee easy to get one, then transfer ritz balance over there?

I paid my annual fee on 9/1. Apparently I got the card 8/14/14, so due to this arbitrary date...I have to wait until 2019 to get the free night. That's really annoying, just go by the annual fee date; way easier for us customers to track. The response I got was unhelpful, but since I did some digging I did manage to find my "anniversary date."

What happens if we're to apply for a new CC then move over our entire CL from the RC to the new card? Guessing they won't offer a refund still?

Anyone have recent experience using the airline fee credit for gift cards?

Back to square one. Chase told me I did hit my $10k requirements before the August 18th deadline. Marriott didn't apply the status until August 27th and doesn't want to move me to Platinum even with my statements as proof.

Well, we need to remember this. Even if you hit $10k before the deadline, Chase won't know until the statement closes. Then there is a period until the DP is communicated to Marriott. It may take an entire billing cycle....
