However, later the same day I also requested the credit by Secure Message (for "baggage fees) and it was approved. Very YMMV now but still doable. 2/10/2017
Southwest Airlines GCs work fairly easily. I've generally bought them for $150 and said they're excess baggage fees.

Just applied and got approved for a whopping 32k credit line. Do I reduce my credit limit to $1500 via sm or call them directly for the AF not to post to my account?. or Do I have to wait until I receive the physical card?. Also saw some posts being successful in matching to the 3-night certificate, will try and post the results.
Thanks
Thanks

They can lower your credit limit via SM. Also, I lowered my credit limit after the annual fee already posted, and my annual fee was automatically refunded a few days after my credit limit was lowered. I also was able to match to 3-night offer, even though I applied through 2-night offer link. This was back in early April though. I'd be interested to know if they are still matching 3-night offer now, to consider the card for my wife. Please let us know your results.

Why shift it to another card? Decreasing your limits overall is what allows you to get auto approved for cards pretty easily. If you need the CL elsewhere then it's worth shifting, but if it's not needed and you have decent CL already with Chase (as many people do) then it's best to reduce and set yourself up for the next card.

I am actually not sure which is a better approach with Chase. For me, I know I regretted reducing my generous CL with Chase bc it certainly did not help in getting auto-approval for future apps.
Instead, I find myself needing to call in , and get approval by shifting CL. So based on my personal experience, if I were to do it again, I will not reduce CL, but rather, shift it to other cards you expect to put high(er) spend.

Is there a hidden overall limit with chase? 100% -200% of income?

I was getting some crazy CL back in the days when my income is like fresh out of college / entry level. (At that time, I wasnt churning or having multiple CC apps) . I think I was even approaching the 150% level.
Ironic that now that my income has improved, have better CS, (but too many inquiries or new accounts), that I have to call in to get a card from Chase.

What's the best way to use the travel credit for normal expenses? I have status on airlines, so don't typically pay for upgrades or bags for example.

I have a charge for a seat upgrade that I made towards my minimum spend. If I request to have my travel credit be applied for the seat upgrade, do I need to spend extra to cover that credit that I am receiving or will that initial seat upgrade charge count towards my minimum spend? Thank you.
