IMPORTANT NOTE: As of April 2018, a new IHG card is being released. There are changes, including a limit to the value of the annual free night certificate (40,000 point vs. any hotel).
Ongoing discussion can be found here, in the IHG forum.
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/inte...valuation.html

Existing card members can use "any hotel" certificates that were issued/will be issued prior to April 30th. Any Anniversary Night issued BEFORE May 1, 2018 is still valid at any IHG hotel worldwide.
Certificates issued AFTER May 1 will be under the new T & C's.

From Chase:

Update: We’re changing the Anniversary Free Night on your IHG Rewards Club Select Credit Card

On May 1, 2018, we’re changing the Anniversary Free Night benefit associated with your IHG Rewards Club Select Credit Card.

Here’s what’s changing
Currently, we award this Anniversary Free Night each year after your anniversary date, and it is redeemable at any IHG property. Going forward, Anniversary Free Nights issued after May 1, 2018, will be redeemable at eligible IHG hotels with a redemption value up to and including 40,000 points.

Here is the list of IHG hotels that will NO LONGER be available for certificate redemption: https://www.ihg.com/content/us/en/deals/partner-offers/anniversary-free-night?_PMID=99634986&cm_mmc=CJ-_-4453693-_-7718223-_-www.ihg.com%2Fcontent&glat=AFFI&setPMCookies=true& url=https://www.ihg.com/content/us/en/deals/partner-offers/anniversary-free-night

Current public offers, as of 9/1/17
See post 527 regarding an 80,000-point offer: "When I made my reservation, when I got past the point of picking my hotel, and picked my room, there was an active link on the bottom of the page for the 80000+$50 offer."

All offers have the following terms/benefits:
  • Signup bonus earned after $1,000/$2000 spend in first 3 months
  • Starting on the first anniversary of account opening, a free night every year at any [effective with Anniversary Certs issued on 01 May 2018, redeemable only at properties 40,000 points and under] IHG hotel. (Cert may be redeemed online.)
  • 5 points per $ spent at IHG hotels
  • 2 points per $ spent on gas, groceries and dining
  • 1 point per $ on everything else
  • 10% points rebate on any redemptions. ("Please allow 4 to 6 weeks after Reward Night stay for rebated points to be deposited into your account")
  • No fee 1st year, then $49.
  • No foreign transaction fees.
  • IHG Platinum status for as long as you hold the card.
Q. Where can I learn more about the annual free-night certificate associated with this card? How long are the certificates good for? Are the certificates revoked if you cancel your Chase card?

A. See Annual Free Night Cert from IHG (Rewards Club) Visa / Mastercard.

Q. Once I meet the $1000 (or $2000) spending requirement, how soon will I receive my bonus points?
Q. Can I apply for this card and earn the bonus after doing so previously?

A. For answers to these and other questions, see the wiki and related discussion in the master discussion thread Applying for Chase Credit Cards, 2017 onward

Q. Will the signup bonus count toward Spire Elite status?

A. No

They do not. Only "Qualifying" stays count towards elite status. This is why the extra points packages really help you along because you can literally double or more your qualifying points on each stay.

Points from credit card spend DOES count towards Elite Status, signup bonus does not however. From my account:

Elite Qualifying Points Earned: 2,720 of 75,000 for Spire Elite

Description Total Earned Elite Qualifying Points
RC DINING 440 pts. 0 pts.
IHG REWARDS CLUB CREDIT CARD 2X BNS PTS 1,482 pts. 1,482 pts.
IHG REWARDS CLUB CREDIT CARD BASE PTS 1,238 pts. 1,238 pts.

Any recent DPs on when the opening bonus actually posts? I completed min spend on 05.19. The $100 credit posted on 05.18. The 5k AU bonus posted on 07.15. But the 60k (now confirmed via SM to be 80k for my account) is still nowhere to be found. Normally everything from Chase posts very quickly, so I presume the holdup is on the IHG side. When I asked them before, I was told to wait several months.

Standard for Chase is that the bonus posts with the next statement. Occasionally if you meet the spending requirement within the last few days of a statement period the bonus will post with the next statement after that.

I've had two statements close since meeting the spend. It's odd that I got the AU bonus (and points for the spend itself) but nothing else. I'll SM if it still hasn't happened a bit after the next statement closes.

Approved for 1st IHG card in Aug 2014. Third annual fee coming up in Sep 2017.

I have read that once the award night posts in the IHG account, it will not be retracted even if card is closed afterwards. If I book an award night and later need to cancel it, I assume it will still go back to the account despite my card already closed?

I've never read of a signup bonus taking more than two statements to post. I'd chase them right now (no pun intended) before it gets lost too long.

BTW, you did meet the spend after adjusting for returns and not counting interest charges and account fees, correct?

100K offer--probably targeted

My wife received a 100K pt offer via snail mail today. Not sure if it is targeted or not. Go to www.ihgrewardsclub.com/100koffer and then sign into your acct. Then click on "Offers". Her offer is good through 8/31/17. YMMV of course.

Ditto for my husband. It has been 2 or 3 months now each time he logged in his account the 100K offer popped up. Then he got the mailer this week same 8/31 expiration.

He would be down to 3/24 after Aug so he wants to get other restrictive Chase card such as the CSP or the personal UA and Marriott first before taking the IHG card.

Pretty much certain that if you are an elite and currently dont have the IHG card you would get the 100K offer shows up.

There is also another offer popped up at the bottom of one screen, that is 50K + $100 statement credit.

Nope, no mention of a welcome bonus on either of the two Chase IHG statements (with the min spend completed on the first one). The third statement closes next week, so I'm crossing my fingers.

I was approved for the 80k offer about a month ago and just Secure Messaged Chase and asked them to match the 100k offer and they said they would! I am in no hurry to meet the spend, but will probably get to it in the next couple of weeks. No brainer for this card.

So I signed up for the following (now gone) deal:
Spend $2K, get 80K points and 10p/$ for spend at IHG hotels.

If I SM and ask for them to match to the 100K offer, will I loose the 10p/$ at IHG?

May I ask how you phrased your request to them? My dad just tried the same thing but he was denied.

Although his situation was somewhat different, he was approved for the 60k offer in mid-June and met the $1k spend by early July - then he went back to Chase in mid-July and they matched up to the then-publicly available 80k offer. Possibly they will match a better offer only once, but that is not the reason they're giving for the denial (he even attached his 100k mail offer) - they're basically saying that his account doesn't have that offer (which makes absolutely no sense anyway since it's a new cardholder offer, not something that current cardholders would even have access to). I know 80k is nothing to sneeze at, but the 100k would be nice since he's already met the $2k min spend too.
