I just got this

Thank you for taking the time to contact us again in
regards to transferring rewards to Korean Air.

Please be assured your inquiry has reached the highest
level of escalation made available through the Secure
Message Center. Also, I am responding to both inquiries
you sent regarding this issue.

I can certainly understand your frustration regarding the
point transfer option to the Korean Air SKYPASS program.
As a security measure, a business decision was made to
suspend this benefit so that we can review processes and
make appropriate changes. Regretfully, at this time, no
date has been determined as to the return of this
functionality.

I would also like to provide you with information
regarding program changes as described in the Chase
Sapphire Preferred® with Ultimate RewardsSM Program
Agreement (Rewards Program Rules and Regulations) below.

Notice of Changes
? We?ll give you 30 days notice of the following types of
changes to the program or this agreement:
?? if we add or increase fees applicable to the program
?? if we change how you earn points
?? if we limit the number of points you can earn
?? if we cancel the program

? We?ll send this notice to you in writing, which, at our
option, may be delivered to you electronically by email or
through our online services such as chase.com or the Chase
Mobile App.

? We?ll give you notice of other changes to the program or
agreement by posting an updated copy of this agreement at
our website, chase.com/ultimaterewards.

? We won?t provide notice when we change what you can get
with your points. You understand and agree that we can
make these changes at any time. You can see what you
currently can get with your points at our website,
chase.com/ultimaterewards. Future availability of any
specific items isn?t guaranteed.

Additionally, I am sorry to hear you have not had a
resolution to your inquiry regarding the Ultimate Rewards
activity. Please note that with the recent updates made to
Ultimate Rewards, you can now view previous redemption
history for 90 days. Additionally, you may need to update
your browser. I have listed the browser requirements for
your review below.

Browser Requirements:
? Customers using an earlier version of browsers below
will need to upgrade their system
o Firefox 2.0 or higher
o Safari 2.0 or higher
o Internet Explorer 9 or higher

If you continue having difficulty with your online access
or have other technical questions related to our online
service, please call our Technical Support Center at
1-877-999-3872. I apologize for any inconvenience this
matter has caused.

Chase Bank considers your concerns to be one of the most
integral parts of the improvement process. I certainly
appreciate the time you have taken to share these concerns
with us. As a result of comments such as yours, we gain
more insight as to how well we are servicing our
customers. Please be assured that I have forwarded your
formal complaint to the appropriate management of Chase
Bank for their review. We appreciate your patience as we
work to resolve this matter as quickly as possible. I
apologize for any inconvenience this matter may cause.

If you have any further questions, please reply using the

The most disturbing part of Chase's reply is this:

"We won't provide notice when we change what you can get with your points. You understand and agree that we can make these changes at any time."

Is this really Chase's corporate policy? Do they think that their customers would put up with sudden and unannounced removal of program transfer partners? I do understand and agree that they can make changes, but doing so without prior notification to customers is just bad business practice.

dkjb3t4, what's strange about the reply you just got is that a previous poster referenced KE's notice that the functionality is coming back Jan. 15. It's the same 'right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing' that's so common with big companies these days. And if all else fails, just copy and paste the terms and conditions and hit 'send'.

Sometimes I wonder if we've brought this corporate intransigence on ourselves. Airlines and credit card companies don't want to go out on a limb, or bend a rule, or apologize in writing that they blew it, because there's a really high chance their response will be posted on a blog or forum, and then thrown back at them. I notice it with the newer staff at airlines; they won't do anything that even hints at pushing the envelope, that hasn't been cleared by higher ups. Front line flexibility, or even honesty, is out the window. That's why it's always so delightful to get one of the old hands that knows their way around the rule book.

Just to be clear, I think the reference was to the functionality coming back in Jan. of 2015, not Jan. 15.

I guess we won't get 100% clarity as far as whether it is or is not coming back.
But if some employee really said it will come back on January 2015, I would guess that this information was, at least at one point, the correct information.

I'm sure Chase is a huge corporation with an incredibly large number of employees, all of them with different amount of knowledge about specific decisions that are made in the company.

Thus, if someone said "it is coming back in January of 2015," the presence of such positive information would outweigh another employee at Chase, who may not be up to date on this particular decision, claiming that no decision has been made. Alternatively, it is possible that the January 2015 is a made up lie by a unscrupulous employee, but I think this is unlikely given the lack of incentive for an employee to make up such a thing.

I have already shifted most of my spending except dining to other credit cards and will eventually close this credit card if Korean Air does not return.
I hope all of you do the same because this product simply doesn't offer much benefit.

Every rewards program has language like this in their T&C's. If you find it that objectionable, no one's forcing you to participate. The fact that so many people are getting these rewards credit card indicates that people are, indeed, willing to put up with the possibility of that happening.

We just arrived in korea today on award tickets mostly funded by my UR points. Reallllly praying this is just temporary. KE is the transfer partner we use most.

I am willing to risk program changes. I just think that it would be better for Chase's customer relations to give some advance notice of major changes.

To each his own, but this product does offer quite a bit of benefit to many. Yeah, I'd love to still have a SkyTeam transfer partner since I'm BOS-based and like to go to Europe (and KE's award chart for AF/KL/AZ is very good). But even without them, Hyatt is a great transfer partner. BA is really useful for short hauls and also getting me to Europe cheaply (BOS-DUB on EI is 25k RT in economy/50k in biz, with negligible fuel surcharges). Not to mention the 5X categories for Ink that really make these points comparatively easy to earn.

I haven't had time recently to follow flyertalk so this is the first I am hearing of this "disaster". I came upon it because on December 10 I called Korean Air to put 2 First Class awards on hold for myself and my husband for early January and specifically told them that I would be using Ultimate Rewards to get those award seats. They told me that I would need to transfer points separately into each of our Skypass accounts. They made no mention that Korean Air was no longer a transfer partner of Chase UR. So now that I was ready to transfer the points to complete the award booking I came on here to research if the transfers were instant only to find that the ability to transfer is actually gone! So much for my travel plans. I am really frustrated because I don't yet have a plan B.

I actually called Korean Air to tell them that I just found out that I would be unable to ticket this reservation unless something changes with Chase because otherwise I have no way to get the UR points into the KE accounts. The agent put me on hold for a few minutes and came back to tell me that she was told that in January the transfers would be resumed but she can't give me an exact date. Being that we need to travel next week I didn't want to be in limbo not knowing if/when the transfers would resume. So I quickly started researching other options. G-d was good to me and it didn't take me too long to find that Cathay Pacific had basically what I needed, only in Business instead of First, which I went and booked through AA. I'd rather get there in business than not get there at all.

We shall find out if it's true that transfers will resume in January.

Happy New Year to all!

Okay, just bumping the thread.
It is now January 12th and while a lot of blogs and such are still pumping the Chase Sapphire Preferred program saying that it's the best (with the caveat that KAL will come back this January), KE transfer is still not back on Chase.
I hope it comes back.

I just came across this thread only to find out that I was quite lucky.

On Nov. 12, I transferred 20,000 points to my wife's KE account and 11,000 to my own KE account to make 70,000 miles in each of our accounts, which would be sufficient to ticket 2 free seats for my parents-in-law to visit us from Korea in the coming March. I had waited and waited prior to the transfer of the points, just wanting to make sure that their schedule could match ours. Finally, I decided to do it that day, after perceiving the popularity of the ICN-YYZ route and the decrease in the number of free seats around the dates available to us. I am now quite glad that I did it in time. Both my wife and I have no more than 200 miles left in our accounts.

The only thing I dislike KE is about the fuel surcharge that has to come out of a passenger's own pocket. Although this is a common practice for many Asian airlines, I appreciate how generous U.S. airlines are. After some calculations, I found that I saved only about half of what I would have paid without redeeming our mileage. Well, it is still better than nothing though. In the future, we may deposit mileage to our DL's accounts if we fly KE.
