The 100K offer with staggered spend is live again. (9/17/15)

Additional discussion can be found here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/chase...-75k-100k.html

50K, 75K or 100K offer https://creditcards.chase.com/a1/ba/nonaep?CELL=6H8X

Public link on Chase.com
https://creditcards.chase.com/credit...H0&list=4,2,1&

50,000 Avios after $2000 in purchases within the first 3 months
25,000 Avios after an additional $8000 in purchases within the first year
25,000 Avios after an additional $10000 in purchases within the first year
(Thus, a total of $20000 spend for 100,000 Avios)

Annual fee $95 NOT waived
Card earns 1 Avios/$ on everyday spend

Warning: Avios do not work like other types of miles and points
The British Airways system is distance based, priced per segment, with very high fees and fuel surcharges possible, depending on the airline flown. In particular, redemptions for British Airways flights are often the worst value. Therefore, one of the most popular uses of points is for short-haul flights on partner airlines.

Make sure you understand the program thoroughly before you apply for this card, as whining may be considered off-topic. Most questions and advice have already been given within this thread.

I must have missed that one. I am in the middle of the 50/50 with 50k/$75 for first year and 50k after 2nd $75 ann fee paid.

Maybe after the 2/27 expiration this 50/25/25 will morph like last year's 50/50 w/$10k did.

Another Chase promo for 100K Avios? Churning is not possible correct? I got the 100,000 Avios 2 years ago.

Here's the relevant language from the T&Cs, below. There's a bit of wiggle room in the use of "may not" rather than "will not", such that if you previously did a lot of spending above and beyond qualifying for the bonus you might get the bonus again this time around. But there are a lot of "ifs" and "mights" in my reasoning here. So absent some concrete assurance from Chase, I'd think we would not get the bonus if we availed of the offer previously.

Replying to this offer: If you omit any information on the form, we may deny your request for an account. Chase cardmembers who currently have or have had a Chase credit card in any Rewards Program associated with this offer or have received a similar bonus offer, may not be eligible for a second Chase credit card in the same Rewards Program, or for any bonus offer. Chase cardmembers currently receiving promotional pricing, or Chase cardmembers with a history of only using their current or prior Chase card for promotional pricing offers, are not eligible for a second Chase credit card with promotional pricing.

too expensive in terms of fuel surcharges
I guess it depends how you approach this and what your other mileage resources are. That is, if you don't have miles in the bank from other airline programs or if for some reason the BA routes suit your needs, the big surcharges might be worthwhile and could be justified as still yielding a couple of C or F RT tickets at relatively low expenditures in absolute $$. But yeah, people should be aware that for some routes we're talking thousands of dollars in such surcharges for two people.

I think the way to think about it is that the first 50k avios for $1k spend is a slam dunk @ 51 avios per dollar (50k from bonus + 1k from spend). The next traunch is $9k further spend generating 25k avios bonus + 9k avios from base spend, or is 3.78 avios per dollar. The last traunch is $10k incremental spend for 25k bonus avios + 10k base avios, or 3.5 avios per dollar. All of those are relatively attractive, but are based on your next best alternative.

If you're a frequent churner every few months and have a hard time meeeting minimum spends, yes, this represents a high opportunity cost. But if you're a less frequent churner looking for a new 'go-to' card, this would be a pretty solid offer I think.

I had the original offer from years ago, so T&Cs suggest I can't get this, but if anyone else has success churning please advise.

It's possible. Likely is the question. Many of us had 100k in '10 and got in on the new offer (50/50) earlier this year successfully.

I guess I haven't been following the threads closely enough, that's good news. Thanks for sharing.

I wouldn't be surprised if you got denied the bonus:

This one-time bonus offer is valid only for first-time cardmembers with new accounts. Previous and existing cardmembers/accounts are not eligible for this bonus offer.

Now, if it had actually been a business card instead of a personal card...

previous cardholder

So I got the original 100K offer back in Nov 2009 (I believe) and canceled sometime mid-2010.

What are the odds I would actually get the bonus? 20%, 90%?

I've seen plenty of churn Chase rants that state you are new after 2. I would lean toward the 90% end of things if you ditched the card in mid '10. Worst case you spend $1k and get very little.

Natural spend (non-BA) earns at 1.25 avios per $. So the math is 51.25 avios per $ on $1K; 4.03 avios per $ on the next $9K, and 3.75 avios per $ on the next 10K. Spend the full $20K to get 125,000 avios. Spend to 30K you'll have 137.5K avios + companion ticket.

EDIT - Don't care for the annual fee, but there is some beauty in the one year time table for the follow on spend (after $1K).

I got miles on my second card after 1 year of canceling first one.
