Chase converting IHG Visa to MC

Just wanted to share that when I logged into my Chase account tonight, I see a message below my IHG credit card stating that the conversion has already happened. Check out this post for a screenshot: http://travelwithgrant.com/2014/03/2...-edge-program/

Good night everyone.

Yup. The conversion is supposedly on April 1st but it has started during the overnight processing after Midnight when it turned to March 28th.

Even a card canceled yesterday day time and 100% of the line moved to another Chase card, by a specialist at Lending Dept, is now shown being converted to a new account number despite it also shows "this account is closed" with a 0 available credit. So the conversion has NO mechanism to check accounts being closed just prior to the conversion.

I hope those who closed their Visa a few days earlier do not see the conversion of their closed cards.

I canceled mine yesterday, but seems like it's too late! This's what i got the message in my account:
...

We've transferred your account details to your new credit card number ending in (...xxxx). This includes your balance and account activity. For each account, you'll see your transactions, statement details and payments posted to your new account. If you have not yet received your new card, your card will arrive shortly.

Please remember:
When you receive your new card, please provide your updated card information to merchants who may attempt to bill your old account number (for example, cell phone, cable, or insurance providers; subscriptions) or online merchants like iTunes, Netflix and Amazon.
Make payments to your new credit card number.
We've transferred your Alerts to your new account. Continue to manage Alerts online or on applicable mobile devices.
Change which accounts you see online. Go to the Customer Center tab. Under the "My Information" section, click Show/hide accounts.

...

Same here. Note to self, banks are all untrustworthy. Do not delay if action is needed! In our case, we were trying to create a new Marriott account to be used for a Marriott card application which is intended to swap out the IHG card. Well the new Marriott account is stuck in Inactive, so wasted 2.5 days and still could not be used. The Marriott card got a surprising instant approval so could not swap out IHG because it could only be done at new card approval process. Had to call IHG card number to do a formal cancellation and moved the line to BA card. All were done around mid-day yesterday. Yet, the closed IHG card is still converted to a new number.

I'm not cancelling, just letting the conversion happen. Do you think it matters if the old Visa number was used for a hotel booking guarantee? I used it for the free night at a top-rated Intercontinental in Europe. I'd expect that they'd only call up the number if we no-show, which we aren't planning to do. Plus will it automatically be changed in my IHG profile, and the hotel will have access to that?

Do we know for sure if the free night renewal date will remain the same?

I cancelled my IHG Visa in February, applied for IHG MC 3/18 under 60k offer.

Card arrived this morning and I sent a SM sking for the 80K points and was granted.

No idea if I will get the 2nd bonus but the card closes 4/13 and I will have the $1000 spend done a week or so before.

Will update

I knew I should have done this before leaving for Thailand and not waiting until I returned. Was on my list to take care of this weekend, but guess I will just keep it now. Glad I checked here before cancelling for no reason. Thanks

I saw the notice about getting a new card a few weeks ago even though my existing card already had the IHG logo - and last week I received a new card, cut up the old one and put the new one in my wallet.

Yesterday I looked at my account online and it said that my old card had been cancelled and my account info had been moved into the new account - and I noticed the last 4 numbers were not the numbers I was used to (and have as the primary card on some sites I do automatic payments on).

Sure enough I looked at the one week old card - and it was the same as my old one - and that's when I read the note that the new one would be a MasterCard that I'm supposed to get in a few weeks.

I guess I can still use the (one week) old card in the meantime :-)

Enter your login information and the PGFTNHNAD3 or SAMPN3YAA39. These codes may only work for targeted accounts, but they worked with with my login credentials and I already have the Visa. After watching a 90 second video you should get a screen showing 1,000 bonus points applied to your account (if you are eligible) and an offer for the 80,000 point MasterCard from Chase with the annual fee waived for the first year.

Here's a direct link to that application (it shows the MasterCard) with no mention of any bonus points:

https://applynow.chase.com/FlexAppWe...ID=&PROMO=DF01

I also was offered the MasterCard with 60,000 bonus points and a $50 statement credit when I was booking a room with IHG this morning.
Hey,

So I have tried recreating your scenario from the IHG website, and when I get to the page with bonus link, the link does contain promo code DF01. The IHG website is stating that this is for 60k sign up bonus, which I understand people previously confirmed it is for 80k.

Is it still worth applying knowing it might just be for 60k at this point?

Thanks.

Very similar experience as you. Although I applied about 1 week earlier. The card came about the same as you and the Plat status as well.

I've also already spent my $1k. Haven't paid yet. Will be interesting to see how long it takes to get the 80,000 points.

On 3/28, I saw they had issued me a new card number. Still, I requested they close both accounts and my account closed over the weekend.

Can anyone share their experience keeping Plat status (for how long) after cancelling the card?

On the same boat. Can someone confirm the possibility of being able to apply for the new card if the card is closed over the weekend?
