No

But do you need to drop documents in Paris these days? This is from my last visit - I just scanned the document and supposedly I'm done. There's a drop off box but my refund does not be conditional on someone processing the physical document.

Since this purchase was Premier I might get a better refund rate if I went via BEA's/SCB's services. But frankly I want to avoid tax refunds if I can...

You did, before 2013 http://www.consulfrance-houston.org/...hp?article2235

If you leave via a EU airport other than CDG or ORY, you still need a stamp http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/franc...full-20-a.html

Pablo is only if you're taking your refund direct from Premier
If you want to take your refund from Transforex you need stamp even at CDG or ORY

This was the queue next to my Pablo visit. I had a lounge invite so I would go for Pablo. But if you purchase is large then perhaps it's worth the queuing:

Best ride this as hard as you can for the next month or two because you know that it can't last like this. :P

Well you have to register first. I didn't start early enough and am now stuck in the HKID verification phase.

Lots of fingers being pointed at the outsourced developer Cherrypicks, a subsidiary of Netdragon http://forum.hongkongcard.com/forumSE/show/21054?page=2 #19

But yes either one or both of the following will happen: the banks on that list will ban points/miles earning on quasi-cash (probably the Quasi-Cash MCC codes in http://125plan.com/ResourceCenter/do...es.pdf#page=13 ), HSBC will realising its getting mobbed by free points runners and impose a 2.5% fee like TNG, or both.

Yeah, been waiting to get the app to verify my account for a few hours now (just email verification - I haven't even gotten to the HKID verification yet). I assume the banks that will ban earning on quasi-cash will have to change their T&C which would give you at least a few months (even with HSBC's own cards, you have until April, which is good for 60K of spend).

As is the way with all deals too good to be true, I assume this won't last more than a month or two.

No they don't. BEA decided Wechat Pay laisees/payments were ineligible for points on 1 April 2016 without announcement (they awarded points for Wechat Pay before that) http://forum.hongkongcard.com/forumS.../17270?page=16 #155. SCB also made a similar change, and failed to rebate February 2016 promos fulfilled with Wechat Pay payments in May until it was pointed out to them their awarding 1X points in February implicated the spending is eligible spending for the February promo too.

Hmm, didn't realize this. So, we know for sure that we can use HSBC cards for at least two months, but there is likely better earning rates on BEA (maybe SCB if it is considered online) until they make an announcement. What do you think the optimal card will be to link up (since they limit it to 1 card per account)?

I think you miscomprehended what I am trying to say about BEA and SCB. They've already stopped awarding points for Wechat Pay (until we have some hard data to the contrary I'll read across to PayMe as well)

As for second question, http://forum.hongkongcard.com/forumSE/show/17275

Got into the app, verified my details.

Tried adding my CCB Eye at first but was rejected by the app.

Decided to add my HSBC VS instead and topped up my account with the daily maximum of 3000 HKD.

During the Add Credit Card verification, they will perform a phantom transaction of 1.00 HKD to make sure your card is valid.

Daily max. should be 5,000 HKD unless this varies by account? I topped up 5,000 HKD through Dah Sing VISA yesterday.

https://payme.hsbc.com.hk/help?categ...-payme-account

Are there limits to how much I can top up?
Yes, there are limits on how much you can top up your PayMe account.

For HSBC Credit Card Holders
If you are an HSBC credit card holder you can enjoy the following top up limits without having to provide a copy of your HKID card:

1. Maximum account balance: HKD 3,000
2. Maximum daily top up amount: HKD 3,000
3. Maximum monthly top up amount: HKD 10,000
4. Maximum annual top up amount: HKD 25,000

If you provide a copy of your HKID, you'll access the following limits:

1. Maximum account balance: HKD 100,000
2. Maximum daily top up amount: HKD 5,000
3. Maximum monthly top up amount: HKD 10,000
4. Maximum annual top up amount: HKD 100,000

Non-HSBC Credit Card Holders
If you do not hold an HSBC credit card, you'll be asked to upload your HKID when adding your credit card. You'll then have access to the following limits:

1. Maximum account balance: HKD 100,000
2. Maximum daily top up amount: HKD 5,000
3. Maximum monthly top up amount: HKD 10,000
4. Maximum annual top up amount: HKD 100,000
I didn't do the HKID verification step, though I suppose it doesn't really matter since I'll be hitting the HKD 10,000/month wall like everybody else.

EDIT: Just submitted my HKID so I can add 2000 HKD more!

Apologies for the fact that I don't read Chinese, so the links to hongkongcard don't help me much. Do I understand correctly that the opportunity here is to put ~HK$10,000/month for February and March through a cycle of using a credit card to top up a WeChat wallet and then retrieving the money through a bank account, thus earning whatever credit card rewards are available for the top-up, and that there are no charges involved anywhere in this process?

If so then the maximum rewards seem to be quite limited (if it were HSBC RC then it's of the order of HK$100-200 depending on which card and how rewards are set)?
