AAVS excluded
Hongkongcard.comers deduced (and I agree) that this will hit points earning on Wechat Pay and upcoming HSBC Payme app
Also I add any top-ups of Paypal balances (as opposed to direct payments to merchants) will be hit also.
I see there are potential arb opportunity before 1 April 2017? Add funds to WeChat Pay from HSBC credit card -> generating RC. And then withdraw it back to the bank account??

The problem I see is how to best add funds to WeChat Pay? I can see only 7-11 Top Up option and seems that can only be topped up physically by cash at 7-11 stores. Alternative to that is to give Red Packet / transfer $$ to a close friend and deduct the amount on HSBC credit card but that seems to be capped at $200 per day. Any better ways to arb?

On UBER and SCB World Miles Master

I have been paying HK UBER rides with this card, and wanted to make sure that the transactions will qualify as online. I called customer service and asked them to look at my past UBER transactions, and they confirmed they counted as 'online'.

It isn't an arb. It's cost-free.

Banks still awarding point to Wechat Pay http://forum.hongkongcard.com/forumSE/show/17275

There's just the dreaded "risk" flag that may be set when you start maxing it http://forum.hongkongcard.com/forumSE/show/17270?page=4 #33

SCB counts online differently from CCB and BEA:

CCB http://forum.hongkongcard.com/forumSE/show/15346 #1 and BEA
http://forum.hongkongcard.com/forumSE/show/15346 #5(unless Uber changed their systems)
SCB is online http://forum.hongkongcard.com/forumS.../11968?page=30 #296

---

I just cross-referenced our Singapore counterparts' table
They seem to have the same problem as us (yes: HSBC, DBS; no: Citi)

Thanks Percy! I don't spend lots on UBER, but fascinating to see how different banks treat these transactions that are done on the smartphones...

More details about HSBC PayMe. Apparently you pay from any credit card (fee-free) and receive in any bank account (fee-free if HSBC) up to $10,000/month and $100,000/year per HKID.

Launch date not updated yet ("early 2017").

http://forum.hongkongcard.com/forumSE/show/21048

Think the product should be named PayMS

Or let's wait to see how many more banks ban points/miles earning on "quasi cash transactions" http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...l#post27866990

Anyone tried the online tax refund offered by HK banks? I will be travelling overseas in May and wonder if this is better than getting refund from UK or Italy?

BEA https://www.hkbea.com/html/en/bea-cr...taxrefund.html
SCB https://www.sc.com/hk/credit-cards/asiamiles/
