Be sure to also include your CX PNRs with ticket numbers of your future flights for their consideration. |

On another point, I just received an email from them saying they will give me Silver status. No problem, it's better than starting from the bottom. I signed up to Asia Miles. Can I confirm that Marco Polo Club login details are completely separate? I tried logging in, but this didn't work. I would like to begin booking some flights, but I now believe I have to wait for the customer service team to reconcile my Asia Miles membership to my personal details + assign me Silver and then issue me with Marco Polo Club membership details. Does this sound correct? Also, anyone living in Singapore who flies on CX metal? I will miss SQ, but there service is atrocious. Have to burn through a heck of a lot of points to completely break free:mad: |

Welcome to the board. I personally didn't think that your post was demanding or entitled, however I think we have seen a fair share of people in the forum who come in and think they can get top tier on CX just because they are top tier in another program. Those who have reached Diamond in CX know how hard it is to reach it from zero and therefore get touchy when others feel "entitled" to a free match (I do not think you expressed this entitlement). So I think there was a reflex reaction to your post.
Hope you hang around the forum some more and share your new CX flying experiences with us! I just crossed the line for another 120k miles after the reset of qualifying for gold... in one year time. A hell of a lot of flying in C tickets but not that bad experience especially compared with other airlines in the past. I consider CX as one of the better experiences I had, I do appreciate the service level on the plane in general, love the Bridge in HK and the just opened new CX Lounge in BKK and the beef noodle soup in the TPE lounge... Here my question: I did not get the mail from CX yet with the new cards and benefits but wondering what to expect. From the club membership tier overview I could not really see that big of a difference. Does it come with any (positive) changes in upgrade policy or other desirable behavior? Since I am flying in C anyway I rarely get the chance for an upgrade (I was bumped up to 1st just two times), either because no 1st class on the plane or just Y is full and people are getting bumped up into C. What is the world of CX Diamond like? Anything nice to expect? |

But a word of warning - if you are dissatisfied with SQ's inflight service, then CX is generally worse. IFE is similar, but food is definitely worse. If you are a Diamond, the soft touches make it better e.g. seat block and bottle of water - except that you have probably read about how that is being diluted now. On the ground it's a different matter - CX is generally better than SQ. At least Silver status gets J check-in. |

Apparently all thats changing soon with major change to MPC... Thinking of it its card well played... Make your entry level generous... Then say current system not working so you revamp the program and devalue everything with good excuse.... |

Just received a status match from TG gold to MPC silver with the joining fee waived. The match took around a week after I sent all my documents over.
Definitely most grateful not to have to start at the bottom - lounge access is the big one for me. And it has definitely ensured loyalty going forward. My challenge now is to get myself to MPC Gold and maintain TG Gold ! |

I am like you made it straight to to DM after joining last year, got to say CX way better than all the OW airlines and SQ. Will easy ht 120K so will bank the rest to another OW airline I guess. The lounge in TPE is due to close soon by the way, we were there a few weeks ago and the guy in charge asked how often we come and to tell us there will another lounge being used not as good at the CX one. He said they were nt going to install showers either which is a pity.

Hi all,
First time posting on FT, though I've been benefiting from the sage advice of the community for quite a while now! Since I know I've benefited from reading about other's status match experiences, I thought I'd post mine: I've been UA 1K for a number of years, but with UA's recent downgrades/devaluations to the MP program, I decided to switch my Asia Pacific travel to CX. (My domestic US travel will still be with UA due to the convenience of schedule being based in San Francisco.) I reached out to CX via email and provided them with my last years UA MP travel statement, passport information, and informed them of my intent to book 3 upcoming roundtrip SFO-CGK trips in Premium Economy. They responded to my request about 72 hours later offering to give me MPC Silver and to waive the enrollment fee - if I accepted, they would create my MPC/AM accounts for me. I accepted the offer that same day. (I was hoping to get MPC Gold, but reading the FT forums, realized that was probably unlikely!). Here is where the fun started: I booked my tickets with the first flight about 2 weeks out from when I accepted the MPC Silver offer. A week went by and nothing; called the main reservations line (couldn't reach MPC service line since I didn't have a MPC number yet so I couldn't break through the MPC automated phone system.) and was told I had to wait for an email responses. Continued to pester MPC via email on a daily basis the four days leading up to my flight. And just as I had given up all hope and arrived at SFO for my first CX flight, got the email saying the status match had been processed - literally minutes from checking in! Since then, have already clocked 60,000 EQMs on MPC over the past 2 months, so hoping to be DM shortly. Overall, the experience with CX has been excellent, much better than UA. Agree with many others, that interestingly enough, not many incremental benefits between MPC Silver till MPC Diamond, so for many, getting/keeping MPC Silver is probably enough. Hope this was a helpful account of my status match experience! |

Not with standing in the 6 months of transferring my travel to them and 6 Asian returns, I have been so lucky to get numerous upgrades from Y to J. Perhaps they are trying to make up for this http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...ttle-tale.html |

Just as a heads up so there isn't disappointment...once you got 60k elite miles, you will be reset as GO. At which point you will need to do 120k in the following 12 months to hit DM. So you really need to do 180k miles to hit DM on a straight shot (and those without the SL status match need to do 210k...30, reset, 60, reset, 120). There is some trick as to when to manage your "reset" and how to log your miles around it...because any elite totals you fly as the reset is happening or over the "reset" will be "lost". The Asia Miles will accrue, but the elite miles won't. There are a number of threads about this if unawares. Hope this helps and welcome to CX. Indeed DM stands shoulders above 1K, it isn't even close. Id rather be DM than Global Seevices fwiw, for a whole bunch of reasons. It will be worth it once you get there. |
Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone can help me in giving me some advice. I obtained an Airberlin top bonus gold card through a now expired gold card. I have been crediting my miles flown (mostly on CX but some on QR and BA) to my BAEC. However, recently, I have been dissatisfied with the service so am now looking to status match to MPC as CX is my preferred carrier (I live in HK). As I have been crediting my miles to my BAEC, my Airberlin card has no recent transactions on it but my BAEC shows most of my CX flights in the last 6 months (apart from a couple that did not qualify). I am also a member of EK skywards but not to the point of gaining a significant status. I fly at least twice a year from HKG to MAN, currently via DXB, but given the opening of a direct route between these airports by CX am looking to change my habit, especially if more baggage allowance is assured (this being one of the main reasons I fly EK). I have a return flight with CX at the beginning of October and will be booking at least one more return flight between HKG and Australia for January. Will CX be likely to offer me a status match to my topbonus gold? And if so, are there any tips on how to do that given the situation described above? |

It doesn't hurt asking. |
