As a reference point - got BA Silver (OW Sapphire) comped to CX Silver in less than a week from first communication. Already halfway to Gold on bookings for the next 2 months though so no real risk on their part.

Without creating a new thread on this...
How long does it take for them to respond? I emailed them on the 23rd to ask if they would match me and what documentation they wanted (even though I knew what I needed in advance from research), got a reply asking for the information on the 27th. I even went as far to change one of my next flights (non-stop) to go though HKG (even though it would add like 5 hours to my travel time) so I would have a close upcoming trip. Now I just realized they might now even offer this match until afterwards which means I'm basically earning these miles for nothing (as they match and then reset me to zero). |

I am not sure when you say no matching. What status are you currently having now? |

That said I have Air China Platinum (*G) right now. I fly about 130k miles a year. I may be moving to Hong Kong, so therefore looking to move to a program that I can earn status on a "local" airline. There is also the part where my girlfriend is on OW, she wants me to start flying with her... Previously I would fly *A only. ---- On another note, they just emailed me to tell me they are offering me Silver tier. I guess it beats Green right? Now hopefully I can take full advantage of it on my next flight this Tuesday. |

Do you know how far you are from 1 million BIS on CA? If not far, I will focus on getting Lifetime Platinum first.

a. You have flown 130k miles (not km) last year; b. You have flown significantly for PEK-HKG (or other routes served by CX) I will write back and ask for GO. One thing I like about CA PhoenixMiles is the program is a classic representation of DYKWIAs (I don't mean you of course). In short, you get more benefits and recognitions for being a CA PhoenixMiles Platinum than being a CX DM. At the least, as far as I recall in previous thread, CX DMs do not get free buggy rideS in HKG (but you do, at least in PEK). Also - your CA PhoenixMiles Platinum card is an actual proof of income, at least to the Bank of China. I will say by switching to CX, you will give up a lot of these unofficial benefits. I would say it is fair to ask for CX GO. Beside - search this forum. In some countries, if you are a AMEX Platinum or Centurion Cardmember, you may be able to get the status without any obligation. This is simply my 2 cents. |

Sorry - you mean km or miles? (PhoenixMiles's unit is km.)

This is simply my 2 cents. I did mean miles. I flew about 210,000 km last year. However I don't fly PEK-HKG at all. In fact, I only fly *A routes and I have made it habit of booking around to get miles oppose to what is the most convenient. More than half my miles are from flying partners, so sadly I am not close to MM (well, million km) status. Only in the last couple years have my flying been very high. I know the part of being DYKWIAs. I often seen Platinum members flash their cards like it's some badge or something when they try to use the F lav when they're in Y. I find this kind of funny actually. It seems the FAs don't do anything about it. And I did not know about the proof of income part; that's quite interesting. I have Amex Platinum, but I don't think I get any MPC status as I'm a US cardholder. I have already replied and accepted the Silver match. Should I write back anyways? I don't fly many CX routes. Thanks again! EDIT: Looks like I've already been updated to Silver. |

Declaimer: I never mean you are a DYKWIA.

It is not a question on if CX will give out GO for matching. It is the question (to CX) that how much value you can bring into. For example, if all your flights are EWR-HKG on UA in full Y, CX will be able to do more because of CX's new service for EWR-HKG (capturing new customers). |

What I feel amazed about CA PhoenixMiles Platinum is the program does not actually create DYKWIAs. The official and unofficial benefits of being a CA PhoenixMiles Platinum will make a humble elite to look like a DYKWIA.
Declaimer: I never mean you are a DYKWIA. Have you checked with AMEX and see if you can get one in Mainland China (and if CX GO is offered as well)? Feel free to do so. But my 2 cents is no. Except for a few large department stores [and Western brands like Starbucks], they don't even accept Amex let alone offer it. I already called and they don't offer this to me. In fact if I change my permanent address I can do lose a lot of benefits. I'm sure everyone wants Gold or even Diamond, but the fact of the matter is, they have no obligation to match me and I am more than content with what is offered in the Silver tier (mostly lounge access), and in four trips I'll have earned Gold anyways. |

JMB Sapphire To CX Silver (Match)
I obtained an elite status as a member of StarAlliance Gold (All Nippon Airways) in 2012 and Oneworld SAPPHIRE (Japan Airlines) in July 2013. Then I enrolled the Asia Miles and I sent an email and asked MPC to promote me an elite status with using these elite statuses. Six days later MPC sent me an email and asked me to send items as follows:
1. A copy of my membership cards with any airline's frequent flyer program 2. A copy of transaction statements with detailed travel activities for past 12 months with any airline's frequent flyer program (screenshots must be provided with my name, tier status and membership number) 3. Future travel schedule on Cathay Pacific / Dragonair with booking reference / confirmed flight details. 4. My 10-digit Asia Miles membership number I sent MPC an email with these above statements and pictures on the same day. Another two days later MPC gave me a silver tier if I accept to. I was already a member of Asia miles but I did not have to pay 50HKD to enroll MPC (free of charge). Now I am accumulating sectors and miles to promote my status from silver to gold tier. Thank you for reading. |
Approved Status Match from A3*G to MP Silver
Hi Everyone,
I was just offered a status match from Aegean M&B/*A Gold to Marco Polo Silver. They waived the sign up fee as well. This probably has been covered on this forum already, but they base the match on your mileage statement (I had about 25,000 miles in my short 7 months with A3) not your official status, as well as future bookings with CX/Dragonair and past CX travel. I for one had NO prior travel with CX and no confirmed bookings, but 3 trips which I am planning on CX which I said I would only book if offered a status match. I am also moving to HK next year and mentioned this in the email. |

Any chances of QR GOLD, OWS, to CX Silver, also OWS? the main reason is for the luggage allowance, and I have abit of travel plans from SIN, mainly, SIN-BKK, SIN-HKG, HKG-TPE, short haul in nature.

Can someone please provide the email address on who to speak to for status matching. Anyone have any idea if they match EK gold?
Thanks in advance |
