The 18 is for drinks only. And for those who wonders why it’s called The 18. The space can sit upto 17 pax with the +1 as the bartender inside. Mystery solved 🤭 I will check out myself when I fly next (which is not until early May) so I am sure some other pax can share their feedback earlier

I’m also at the lounge right now. Certainly not expecting the wave of DMs here. It almost feels like the first day of long holiday!

Lots of KOLs load their films/photos of the Wing F at little red book and threads, probably a reason.

I saw in another post somewhere that it's only for drinks.. For dining, there is a curtained off area behind the main dining area that is reserved for DM+ and F passenger only.

It may be exclusive, but why would anybody want to sit in a windowless wooden box?

Once admitted, the staff were very enthusiastic about the reopening and were very eager to show me around. They invited me to The 18 (no photos allowed!) which was a private speakeasy with LP (La Cuvée, iirc, sorry I'm not the biggest drinker) and some special wines from around the world (and also from China!). It was a very intimate little room with no windows and curtains all around. There was one couple having a few drinks, but I decided it was too early :') They then showed me the new shower suites, though all of them were occupied, and the massage had a 2 hour waitlist. I was then brought to the Dining Room for breakfast. It was quite full but the service was super attentive and fast. The Chinese breakfast set felt like it was the exact same as what I had at The Pier F -- not really something to write home about. I then chilled at the Alcove for a while before heading to my gate. It's a gorgeous renovation and super convenient since I don't need to walk to The Pier anymore. It's also a lot brighter compared to The Pier. Previously, I'd walk to The Pier just for a more private dining room + relaxing seating, but I think I'll start coming to The Wing more often. |
Any guesses how long should that initial period of ignoracne of OW rules last? Well its understandable if it is really packed now, just hope that is not a new normal in long term. I was initially sad that I missed openinig by 3 days, but apparently I have not missed anything as OWE:D

Had a last-minute F redemption (that almost got bumped to J because of table inop -- thank you to whoever voluntarily gave up 2A today on HKG - PEK!). Arrived at the lounge around 07:30 and it was quite packed; I think I understand why they're restricting it to only F + CX's own passengers. There were still tables to sit / eat at but the morning rush was as real as The Pier F. I was denied entry three times (once at check in, once when I asked about its location, and once at the door) because I was OWE; they all didn't see that I was flying F. Thank you for this. In the dining room was there indeed a curtained off section for F/DMP customers at the back or were you in the main area?

ooo, I don’t recall a curtained off section at the back, nor was it introduced / advertised to me by the very enthusiastic staff who even showed me The 18.

I will double check when I am there.
