Sadly I much preferred the old lounge but perhaps I will get used to this.

it looks like Emirates wanted to copy the ilse crawford design...
its basically a tackier version of The Pier

WING F has nothing unique and the one thing it did have got removed...

I personally think the location of The Bridge or The Pier should be the flagship F lounge, rather than The Wing.

If The Wing is the better lounge than The Pier, given the convenience everyone will go to The Wing and overcrowd the lounge, leaving The Pier empty. The problem now is that The Pier has aged quite a bit, so the way to avoid this problem is to design The Wing rather consistent with the current offering, or limit access to DM/F passengers as what it is now.

I do think if the current access arrangement is kept, there is very little value with DM corner of The Bridge, maybe it would be better to convert it to OWE corner.

Disclaimer: CX lounges are relatively incredible and have set such a high bar.

Just from the pictures posted it looks a little underwhelming. The general theme of the Pier continues but is there anything unique about the Wing? The Cabana was always something I tried to make a little extra time for.
I would not be surprised if CX kept the current admission rules and upgraded the wine selections. Regarding food, I have never gone to an airport lounge for the dining experience.
I do like the natural light the Wing has over the Pier, and always have.
Fair play to CX for the investment it must be said.

No more smoked salmon???
there was smoked salmon in Wing F Buffet counter, but only available it in morning time in Pier F Atrium.

their smoked salmon is worse quality than what I found from local canteens. food quality has gone down massive hill in from glory days of 2016-17 when i felt their delivery was at its peak.

disclaimer i still eat it. just makes back days a nostalgia.

What exHKG.($$ fare paying) CX DM has the time (and need)to use the day suites anyway. It's more likely other Emeralds on cheaper transit-HKG fares that have hours to spend in HKG... perfect to put them up in the aging PierF whilst HK DMs with little time get ASAP into WingF, get their spa (again ASAP), get a great meal, then board....

Maybe my expectations were set too high, but are the buffet pictures from a J lounge?

God's honest truth, reciprocity isn't the name of the game. How many DMs are going to end up in the Zenith lounge in CMN?

It's the willingness of partner airlines to pay access fees and lounge operator airlines to take them. This is most viscerally illustrated by RJ's recent EUR 350 for one year OWS renewal monetary offer.

If the lounge operator airlines don't want access fee income to reduce overcrowding, there's not much partner elites like me can do about it. I don't have the OPM to qualify the 親生仔 way,

RJ and BA can't be paying that much to CX for F lounge entry, and CX has to pay buy miles from them when creditting to another FFP. What little net revenue lost by denying emeralds into F lounges is way offset by exHKG DMs continue to be happy paying there $$$fares and keeping their lounges quiet and fast access to spa/dining.

If we look at CCR Chelsea, and even Al Safwa, they have local $$$ market and do not rely as much on transit pax unlike say AY. HK is more London than Helsinki....

As for the RJ 350eur for OWS, this destroys the value of sapphire for OneWorld. How can a full fare J pax be in the same lounge as a 350/yr Sapphire? If this continues we'll see nicer longhaul J lounges that foreign sapphires can only enter when on a longhaul minimum prem econ ticket, and simple cafe-like lounges sapphires in Y (short or longhaul), think AA clubs or JAL domestic J lounge. What do can you expect for 350/year...

I’m still a bit confused about the economics of it all to be completely honest.

Let’s say I’m a BA Gold (OWE) flying AY from HKG and visit the Pier F and QF - who owes who?

Here is the ‘signature lobster roll’, and to be honest I think that is overselling the proposition - it’s not a roll stuffed with chunks of lobster, it’s a toasted brioche with some lobster perched on top. Still tasty for what it is, but if you go in expecting a traditional lobster roll, you will be disappointed.

It's elevated version of Pier F's prawn toast of bar menu.

Indeed, as a HK DM I only used the cabanas when I book an overnight transit and decide to stay at HKG instead of going home. During daytime, even if I have hourssss to spend at the airport, I don't bother go to the cabanas. The same goes to the daysuite. I can understand why CX decided not to get those at the Wing if it's expected to be a HK DM focused lounge.

A true ex-HKG DM is probably going to skip the spa... just saying.

Or want to have an option of using arrival lounge to shower if they need to go to their office in Central ASAP.

Unless somehow most of the exHKG CX DM clienteles are rich taitais living in the Mid-Levels these days with a bit of time on their hands, which doesn't seem too implausible. :D

From the limited preview, I think CX just overdone it aligning with Pier F style but not really sure what’s the key selling points of this new Wing F.

It was much more fun having two F lounges with distinct styles.

just hope Wing F not gonna disappoint as Aria did.

BA as the FFP pays CX and and QF the lounge operators.
Hence for the meantime, and unless some CX DMs go to PierF, all PierF is overseas funded...
