mrmiles suggested an even better way is to change in HKG Flounge - they can do FQTS/FQTV splits

I removed my CX FF number a few times right after or around "boarding complete." Miles/points were not posted but I am still greeted.

Theoretically, it's the earning of status points that allow the passenger to earn status to enjoy the corresponding status benefits.
If only the airlines could allow splitting the accrual of status points and mileage accrual.......

No operating airline is going to make that easy - they're all trying to railroad you to crediting into their own crappy program.

Sorry, I removed my number on Amadeus. I booked myself using a distribution system for travel agency. I suppose this is only possible if you can book as a travel agent yourself or work closely with one that will standby for you to remove your FF number at the right time.

Doesn't look like FQTS/FQTV to me. I think the check-in agent first used his AA number to generate lounge invitation. Then, the FF number was changed to the CX one, with a remark added to the boarding pass indicating where he got the lounge invitation.

Has anybody tried this recently? I did it without issue on 22 July and before, but was unable to do so today (2 Aug). I followed the same process as before- got on the plane and attempted to use the app to change my FFP to CX, as soon as I got in my seat and way before boarding was done. I logged out of the app and back in to the MMB page to reattempt it, but got the same error.

Confirmed, I didn't click on that, since my booking is only one way. Let me know what happens next week with your flight.
