You can just retro claim to CX if the miles can’t be credited to MH or QF….. worked for me when flying on an ineligible fare with my AY number on the boarding pass
I think for CX retro claims on CX, no need to show boarding pass I suppose. Will report to see if this still works. Currently reflected as Pending. |

At check in desk, change to whatever FFP you want to enjoy lounge benefits/luggage benefits/status points crediting/redemption miles crediting (from 14/11, these all have to be the same).

I'm assuming this applies only to CX tickets? If flying BA/AY/QR etc from HKG will staff accept OWE membership card/allow changes FF number? Thanks
Changing FFP: a) Flying BA/AY/QR etc. from HKG on non 160- stock: obviously not. Doesn't touch CX in any way. b) Flying BA/AY/QR etc. from HKG on 160- stock (e.g. redeemed with AM): I'm not sure? I presume BA/AY/QR GAs are not partaking in CX's shenanigans? But, CX (as ticketing airline/TA) will probably not change FFPs for passengers on those segments over the phone after ticketing. No idea can BA/AY/QR can do it as operating airline before check in (I know QR will require ticketing airline to do it). But at check in, probably can change. Will gate also be able to change? Not sure. "will staff accept OWE membership card": For lounge entry alone, without changing BP? Just for clarity, I think it's been said on 14/11 that CX HKG lounges do not accept "flash card" post-14/11 https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/37426811-post175.html . Your FFP has to be on the BP to use CX HKG lounges, even if you're a non-CX OW elite flying a non-CX OW airline. |

Hoping collecting a BP at OLCI with OWE FF# would be accepted at lounge even if then amend at check in desk/bag drop. Will report back either way as a data point. Thanks again :tu: |

OW airlines can devaluate your tier points (or status points) whenever they want. 3. OW airlines do not honor their promises regarding lounge access etc year YYYY+1 which they promised when you bought tickets and travelled year YYYY. They have convinced themselves this is a great way to treat the members in their loyalty programs. I am not convinced. |
1. Earn and burn
2. and 3. Don’t treat airline loyalty as if contribution for retirement. |

I lol when people suggest things like being loyal and not changing FF number to game the system. Its like going down to Wanchai and believing they really love you long time.

Don't think it's Wanchai or English-speaking anymore, try YMT.

Hello all, I have a BA award (US to LHR) booked through Cathay. Is it impossible to change my frequent flyer number away from Cathay now? I would like to be able to add my AS or AA numbers to the booking to be able to take advantage of advance seat selection benefits on BA due to status. I am not familiar with this process. Thanks!

At the CX lounge in Heathrow and asked if they'd try adding my FF number to an upcoming booking from Shanghai. She did try but, but she said she couldn't open my booking as it was too far away (booking is at the end of Jan)

You can just take the PNR and go to BA to update the FFP. Since it's a BA flight (even if ticketed via CX) don't think the same FQTS/FQTV controls are applied.
I can change my FFPs for JAL segments issued by Cathay 160-. To JMB (thru their website) and back again (needed a call to their call centre). Reading across it should work for BA too. |
