Oneworld BA Emerald flying on Cathay, seating question?

Made a booking for myself and partner HKG-SGN in 18 days time. Does not give me seating choice now.
Will it? and will I have to pay for seats?

What is carry policy? Plane is a A330-300 I think

Seat Policy:

https://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_...your-seat.html

As OWE, you do not need to pay to select seats. For your companion, under the current rules, might need to pay depending on your fare class. Sometimes the seat selection cant show properly because your booking have a OW status passenger and a no status companion with a light fare. Send CX a message thru twitter and request your seats.

7kg for your carry-on. But since youre OWE you will check in at the First class counter. I doubt theyll weigh your carry-on there.

I suspect something is wrong with your frequent flier number, try re-entering it (you may have to put in a fake one as a temporary hold), 100% of the time as a BA Gold / OWE I can select any seat I want... except if the plane cabin is completely full (which is fairly rare, though not unknown). That extends to other members of my party.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I have a question related to the last comment:

I'm also BA Gold / OWE, soon travelling in business on an A350. I can't select the front row business class seats. Should I be able to?

Thanks for any insight.

If you're talking about R11 & 12 on the B773s with lie-flat J seats, other FT users have reported here that on certain flights these are blocked for CX's DM members

Stay away from row 11 unless you really value being close to the lavatory.

Unlike BA our baggage handling actually works so we do not have carry-on madness https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/brit...y-madness.html

Yes, even OWR can select seats with CX lite fare. OWS and OWE can choose exit row seats.

Recent experience.

4 flights me/wife/2 kids in economy could not pick seats on any flight. Did not get front row seats either upon check in. All intra-Asia.

I just booked AM redemption flights for 7 family members. Only my wife and I have (non-CX) OW status (were sitting in Y).

F: can mark seats. 2A needed to be called in (have to acknowledge it is a bassinet seat).

J 77A: cannot mark row 11 even after calling in.

J 33E: can mark any available seat

PE: can mark any available seat

Y (me, wife, two non-status): wife and I can mark any available seat including front row extra legroom. Cannot mark for non-status in our booking.
