Given CX exec comments on "sharing the (Aria) love", and that Aria is already flying to the UK and AU, I'd think North America could be next in line as a new route.
|
Come November are they going to discontinue the Arya suites to the Sydney route ? I’m looking at daily flights in the first week of November and all flights are A359s.
|
Aircraft allocation not finalized for November yet. This is CX!
|
Apropos of a previous post citing Vivian Lo's promotion to Director of the massive 'Customer Lifestyle' segment, just wanted to share that her successor is Guillaume Vivet, who worked closely with Vivian on Aria, A321neo and IFE, and before that worked in satellites (Inmarsat & Viasat) and Air Canada. He's an engineer by training, so very solidly practical.
|
PS North America looking like the next big destination for Aria.

Looks like the fifth plane with the new Aria suite will be B-KQL. It just flew to XMN for reconfiguration yesterday. They are so behind the schedule they advertised. |
Just flew HKG-SYD on CX161. My my what a mess this new plane is ….
They were looking for downgrade volunteers at the gate as Aria Suites were broken. One passenger onboard had to sit in Premium Economy for takeoff and landing - his door must have been broken. in the Premium Economy cabin around half of the IFEs weren’t working and required multiple resets which didn’t resolve. Headphone jacks also broken. crew did their best but why are there such serious problems with these new products? aircraft was B-KPO |

Lol. bring back Toby Smith he created the A350 Cirrus and the Ilse Crawford lounges . |
I like how in YouTube and other sites there's mostly praise to the new product, in here it's more complaints
It shows how CX with the old product spoiled frequent flyers so much, and we're very lucky to get such a good a350 hard products though aria is still good, there was missed potential |

It probably will take CX a number of months to fix the issues that do not require significant re-designing. It took them more than 9 months to do that with the A350 seats.
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cath...fic-image.html But the more cramped feel and reduced legroom of Aria will probably be difficult to fix without a major redesign. |
Yeah, this is in no way a redesign, just small tweaks to the current setup, eg the door (CX didn't go into details but I got the feeling it was to do with the lock/slide mechanism). There's said to be no impact on the throughput of each 777 conversion., which remains at four weeks once things get underway.

Admittedly, the cabin looks great, and for a daytime flight, there is no downside to the footwells being smaller while there are certainly some upsides (door for privacy, etc.), but in terms of sleeping comfort, I would take the old product 100%. |
I was on a JAL flight recently in J on the 350 and the door on the suite in front was obviously malfunction since it slammed open the entire flight. What was worse is the dipstick in the seat continues to close it instead of just leaving it open. What a dick. So wonder if Aria will have the same issues. The JAL seat was great BTW but I'd prefer CX for better service. Booze better on JAL.

Just got off a 777 Aria service HKG-SYD. Besides the damn horribly LOUD and clunky 777 which everyone thought was falling apart as it barrelled down the runway on take off, I wasn't impressed. The screen is too close and the electronic seat and light controls are confusing. The footwell area is definitely narrower than the A350 and the seat is hard. The food was mediocre as was the service. Won't be going out of my to fly Aria any time soon. Give me the A359/1000 ANY day. That said, the screen clarity and door were positives.
Won't even go into the PVG-HKG sector that was a zoo of a flight. Pax out of control not using headphones with phones, talking loudly all while crew were in the galley chatting and laughing rather than walk through the J cabin. |
