This is AA stock, redemption in J (U class).
if this was CX ticketed they might be willing to do it. Yours they would need to coordinate with AA

AM Redemption Tix - Flight Change at Airport Several Days Earlier?

I don't know if this is the appropriate thread to ask but seems this is the most relevant one for the question.

I am planning to spend 2-3 weeks in Europe and just checked the earliest available flight from HKG to LHR is on 25th Dec (redemption J ticket). While I had some experience trying for a go show in HKG years ago, those were SDC but not days before departure. Are there any recent DPs that anyone being allowed or denied a go-show for a flight several days ahead of the original flight? I have heard AM tix can attempt a go-show whenever the desired flight still has empty seats but that was years ago.

Assuming no status with CX, departing in HKG and tix is issued by AM.

From what I can gather, it is not a same-day change, you want to depart earlier. This differs from wanting to take 251 when you're supposed to be on 239. They'll ask you to pay a change penalty. The rules can’t be bent that way.

Does it mean it is doable with a change fee (i.e. 50 USD according to AM rules) at the airport?

Do you have a specific date you want to travel? If so, call CS and have it sorted it for you instead of taking everything to the airport to standby.

Yes, change fees will apply. This is a textbook case of a flight change.

My best options are 251/ 255 on 20/12 then 257/ 239 on 21/12. The previous pair is still selling D fare, and the latter pair is selling I fare. I checked the award availability for several weeks and found no availability for LHR flights until 25/12, so I guess CS may not be helpful in this situation until the very last moment before departure.

When were you supposed to fly? It is the holiday period. Award space ex-HKG has been blocked for the foreseeable weeks. Because of the huge demand for seats, they'll likely not authorise any changes.

Original date is 25 because there is no business award space in 20-21 at the time I have the ticket issued. There are several options (mostly AY/ BA) popping up before, but I thought stay with CX may be easier if I want to move to an earlier flight or have some chances for a last-minute ticket.

Just wonder if you manage to get on. I was once being rejected in the airport counter and they said they couldn’t help since CX no longer do ticketing at airport. So even there is seat available for standby, they couldn’t charge you the flight changing fee. The seat eventually flown empty or given to staff stand by.

I’m booked on an award flight through BA from HKT-HKG in Business. The flight gets into HKG at 11pm and would be great if I could get the earlier flight and enjoy an evening out in Hong Kong. Assume that appropriate award space would need to be released to make any change? Flight is mid Jan.

Actually, I asked at CX's check-in counters PVG last week. The station manager on duty told me that, as long as my ticket is "Economy Flex", they can allow me (**as a DM member**) to board any HKG-PVG on the same day. Of course, I cannot show up later than my original flight in the first place.

erm… how good did that make you feel? PVG and MNL are exception ports that push pax on earlier flights space permitting. Had it pre and post Covid, and at lower status as well. Better yet, had a double op up once traveling on company dime.

Flex ticket by definition gives you right to standby for earlier flights, be it Diamond, Gold, Silver, Green or white card.
