Ah, sorry, you're right. Just checked and IB is the only partner that you can't book one way.

Annual fee charged for AMEX Plat Charge. Called in and CS refused to add in any sweeteners for renewing. Basically saying how good the card is, while I politely rebutted them ($2000 Grand Hyatt dining credits, which I replied with the strings attached are worth $1300 at most, Lounge Access, which i countered with which other cards provided that as well, the list goes on ...)
Actually I can make use of the benefits and the annual fee pays off, but would be nice to have some sort of goodies thrown in.
Anyone else had better luck?

Actually been thinking about the Plat Charge myself, but I just feel like getting the HK Plat Charge is such a bad value compared to plat charge in other countries. But anyways, I'm based in HK/work in HK so hard to do otherwise. Is the Plat Charge really worth it?

This. I've been a PC holder in other countries and the benefits are generally better while the card cost is lower (about half in Scandinavia compared to HK!). I may persuade a family member to get the card and make me a supplementary card holder (which I believe entitles you to some benefits like Centurion Lounge access).

I never dine at the Grand Hyatt - going there would be because I held the card, so not really a benefit for me. The biggest benefits for me would be the Priority Pass + Guest, FHR, and possibly the hotel memberships if I ever find myself in a situation where I won't be able to keep top status with my brands of choice through stays/nights. But that's hardly worth $7,800. With the 4th Night Free benefit, the Citi Prestige remains a superior card for my needs.

Seems like in HK this card is geared more towards people who like the status symbol of having a metal Amex in their wallet and don't mind (are rich enough) to pay nearly $8k for it. Correct me if I'm wrong..

Haven't heard of renewal gift with new iteration Plat Charge.

Those Grand Hyatt vouchers - I just bought them off another card jing for $1,200 who is cutting his card
I reasoned:
$2,000 face value
I can't apply 75% on that, so write down to $1,500 at least
I can only apply $200 coupon on each $400 spend, so I need at least another $300 off for that.

Two friend of mine (existing cardholders and will be cardholders no matter the cost) will be taking us there next Sat. The $2,000 is our share of costs.

Wait. Seems restricted to AM https://forum.hongkongcard.com/forumSE/show/26004 . Now really can't be worth the asking price.

Just received HSBC offer on salary tax payment. Offer is not bad, but similar to the Citi offer, we must spend on the card in addition to tax payment. I trust all other offers this year will follow this pattern...

Percy, once the link that summarizes all offers related to tax payment, please post. Thank you!

We managed to use $1400 on a $30xx bill. The 10% sc cannot use coupon to discount

Bloody hell there's a $1,000 table limit? Fortunately the cardholder gave her husband a supp, and the server was nice enough to let us split the table into two.

HSBC wants me to spend $17500 before giving me a 2% rebate in RC (up too 300). Think there should be better offers coming.

The 17,500 can also be tax. So effectively you have to pay $32,500 for 300 RC

if you got the 2% version, you are eligible for 300RC per month for each of November, December, January and February. I just sorted the combined paying of Smith family taxes to make sure I max 1200RC just now (my threshold tax payment is 17,000)

U mean I can pay $32500 in tax payments to score the 300RC?
I thought I had to make purchases of $17500 to make $15000 tax payment to qualify for the 300RC.
Silly me

Silly me
The T&C are not explicit on this
But this is what happened in previous years
And I just called HSBC to make sure my 17,000 threshold as well as the 15,000 can both be met by salaries tax payments (yes confirmed).
