Difference in In Flight Service.
I'm travelling on CX252 From LHR to HKG. The plane leaves at 21:00. Airline confirmation says there will be served refresments and breakfast. Is it really so? We will arrive to HKG at 17:15 and serving breakfast at time time sounds...
How are the other flights. Cx have three filghts on that day. Which flight have full dinner service? Thanks !

I flew CX254 just 2 days ago which leaves even later than 252... the service was refreshment and brunch... the "refreshment" in F was actually pretty close to a full dinner service... caviar, apetizer, soup, entree and dinner... brunch service consisted of juice, fruits, breads, and entree.. of course, when you are in F, you can pretty much have anything on their menu for that entree, including the refreshments.. I had a bowl of noodles for that. The meal services are more than enough..

Well, BWatson, CX's menu calls it a 'Breakfast', and I don't normally eat a fresh fruit appetiser, yoghurt and cereal or eggs for lunch. Down here in New Zealand that's usually breakfast fare.

I will however be happy to scan and post a menu week after next when I again take this flight
Was this discrepancy possibly a class of service issue??

I have been on all 3 CX flights out of London and methinks the ONLY difference between "Dinner" and "Refreshment" is the speed of service -- Dinners tend to be drawn out full service, while as Refreshments are served quickly to allow passengers to retire earlier. If there is a course missing or the selection different, I have not noticed.

I've a similar question. I'll probably be flying LHR-HKG-AKL-HKG-LHR in Jan '04.
Which flight should I take for LHR-HKG and HKG-LHR to maximise the chance for NBC?
I've checked the usual sites, what I've established is that the 252 is often 34C, while the others are EQV. All of these EQVs are 744s at the moment.
What I don't know is which ones will be which type of 744s... I think most 74Bs don't have NBC yet?
I flew 255 last month and that had OBC, and obviously want to avoid a repeat.
What's your experience?

Looking towards the end of the year, all the 747 flights look NBC equipped. The 255/254 combinations has recently been operating with OBC 74B. Hopefully by the time you travel there should be little risk of that. FWIW I far prefer the 747 in J and would try and avoid the 343.
Either of the evening flights from LHR is good (i've never really noticed any difference in the catering between the 2. I hate the day flight as it seems designed to maximise jet lag. Coming back from HKG, the earlier flight (251) is preferrable as taking the 00:45 flight makes for a loooong night. There is a boiled dinner serivce once you board so it can be difficult to get any sleep before about 3am!
Also, the 251 typically has heavier bookings so there is more chance of an upgrade!

I think you should change your expectations: take them as they come. OBC is not bad AT ALL, the seats are softer than NBC and service is always up to standard.
Let it go man, take them as they come -- that way you'll enjoy your flight any way. If you set all your hopes on a carefully selected NBC flight and then get an old plane, your whole flight will be ruined.

Cathay efficient? No lah.
Their staff don't have support from their management and this airline only care about money. The Marco Polo Club is good example of only care about money - they won't let you bring even 1 guest extra to lounge. I only try one time and complain when staff are so rude at airpot to turn me down in rude way like reading from a rule book.
