i'll be at T4 again this Monday.
Hopefully will have time to test the entry via T1/2/3 again.

They do have one F counter when there is a F section on the flight, it's on the right side of the MPC counters.

I see, I didn't know that. I guess every flight I took out of T1 didn't have F after the check in counter downsize (I can't recall when it happened, but it was at least 1, maybe up to 2-3 years ago). F on SIN was so rare....some days zero, other days 1 flight. Definitely less than 7x weekly affair. If you space it out over a year, I'd bet F operated less than 100 times on the route.

And there are so many status pax on SIN flights the J line spiked if you got there at the wrong time. Like I said, in the big picture 10 minutes isn't anything, and some of the times I could skip because I didn't check a bag. But when you're DM and used to just walking up, it was noticeable on a few occasions I used the counter and had to wait. I have the "pleasure" of regularly flying to CX/KAs most DM heavy routes (PEK, PVG and SIN), and the worst I've waited at any of the three in the past few years was SIN. There are just many more counters at PEK and PVG to service CX and KA. Ive also waltzed up at SIN too, but what I prize is predictability and when CX cut the counters down to 4, that reduced that if I needed to check a bag.

Versus say TPE, another CX heavy route but with a zillion counters as a DM you never ever have to worry about waiting more than a minute to check.

Anyway, I gotta say the lounge sounds nice (I could care less about the shower and manned bar, although I do respect the views of other regulars here who disagree). But other than the lounge T4 doesn't sound like a massive upgrade. If only SQ would let CX into the good terminal...

I think SG Govt did a Krisflyer Gold on CX and KE.

Flew out of T4 in J this week. There were 2 check in counters open and 6-7 check in staff hovering around the automated machines.

Lounge service is efficient and an upgrade from the Dnata lounge with the signature cathay noodle bar.

A colleague was on todays CX716 while I'm flying on Sunday. He texted me shortly after he reached. Basically the check-in area was overflowing because some machines didn't work. Check-in took more than 30 minutes due to uber elite heavy flight. The lounge was a zoo as CX734 was delayed for more than an hour. Not a single free seat, people sitting on the floor or outside of the terminal. Chilled drinks replenishment was non-existant and no laksa for more than an hour to be seen. Staff has pretty much given up. Boarding was a mess.

Let's see if I have more luck on Sunday. If I read the signs correctly, my flight is already overbooked.

I recently arrived at T4. Within 5 minutes I was at immigration and had my bag 10 minutes after stepping off the plane. Much faster than arriving at HKG. No complaints here.

The signs said it would be an 8 minute walk when I got off the plane, and it was. A lot of the walk could have been made faster with travelators as it was along corridors without any gates or shops but I counted just 2. Not such a smart design. I already prefer T1.

IMHO CX was at the best terminal - T1. Fast check-in as the counters were way out on the left side of the terminal, nice lounge (QF), short-ish walks, fast immigration both for departure and arrivals and easily the fastest luggage service of the 3 terminals.

Doing a SQ-CX transfer next month. Looks like it will be a T3-T4 transfer. I know I will have to do T3-T2 then T2-T4 bus. I'm unsure whether this is all airside or not. Where/when do I 'exit' the airport in this case? It's my first time going through SIN. TIA.

Interesting case. A lot could depends on whether you are HBO, baggae check through w/ onward BP.

Transits will normally be AIRSIDE if you have bags checked through SQ to CX (take train to T2), proceed to T4 airside bus transfer gate.

Issue is if bags not checked / no onward BP. I am unsure if CX still has airside transit desks post their move to T4. Would be good to see if anyone knows.

I wasn't surprised - witnessed the beginning of the fiasco with 3 re-timed flights that Friday afternoon. The laksa lady had a meltdown with the long queue and forgot everyone's orders. The salads were not replenished. And almost all the seats in the lounge were taken by the time I left on the CX712 to BKK at 1:30pm

I swore there was still 3 bottles of Moet when I left.

CX has to rethink their J check in strategy. There was a long queue with only 2 desks open - I just gave up and DIY printed up my boarding pass.

I think that’s what they want you to do. And if it’s faster....why not?

I did a T3-T4 transfer though from GA to CX. You're right you to T2 first then to the bus. I was unlucky and had security check on arrival so in total I had my bags checked 3x if I'm not mistaken? It also took a good 25mins without any queues

The good thing was they had a ground staff wait for me at the end of the airbridge and escort me to T4 Don't know if it was CX or GA who arranged (I think the latter) and this was only on the 2nd day of the new terminal 4 opening - so don't know if it's regular practice or not

Nice; that's exactly my connection in two months time
