Ended up going to the Wing J lounge where I found a delicious spread of food + beef brisket noodles (which weren't available for order in the F lounge, no idea why)

I'm likely not going to make Diamond this year and I have 0 regrets about it. The first time I ate at CX J lounge they served Peking Duck and a lot of excellently done Asian dishes (spicy water-boiled fish, XO & chili beef) and even more inspired Western dishes (roast lamb shank, actually crispy pan-seared salmon).

This has been a terrible experience and after I spend a bit of time in a cabana / shower I'm going to head over to the Qantas lounge for a nightcap & some dessert.

I had the Omnipork dish (which was a vegetarian dish) on Friday; it was absolutely disgusting. It was basically a bowl of gravy with bits of the 'fake pork' and vegetables. It looked gross and tasted horrible. I then ordered the fish dish which was fine - at least edible. The spread of the Wing F buffet is also getting worse. Now they just put a pot of mash potato as one of the 4 mains. It shows how pathetic their budget has become.

That explains it! I didn't bother reading the description and hope they put a warning sign, like when something is hot. Now I understand after this crap, why I wanted to like the poster above head to the QF lounge for some beef stew (which was very good) and chicken. As much as I'm tired of chicken, apparently the only meat dish Amex likes to serve in their US Cent lounges, I was driven to having several servings.

as an update, I filled out a written feedback form expressing my earlier thoughts. I hope CX management sees this sentiment and acts on it. to be honest given their premium prices we ought to expect premium service, otherwise we could just defect to other airlines fairly easily. it's pretty sad when Qantas outport J lounge is better than your home flagship F lounge.

I also almost always go to the QF lounge in HKG now instead of CX F...

We went through on Nov 30, this was the low point for me of all F lounge visits in HKg. We wound up in the J side eating the brisket beef bowl at the noodle bar. Funny thing was 2 of 3 entree choices in F dining were from the noodle bar and the host even confirmed they just went over and grabbed from there and brought to the F side.

Of course, I'd prefer a ribeye, but wouldn't expect to find that cut at any airline lounge, I suppose.

I had a ribeye earlier this year in the AA Flagship Dining room at LAX, so yes, they do exist in airline lounges.

It does have the Vegetarian symbol on the menu right next to "Omnipork" - I don't think they're hiding the fact that it's not real meat.

Why does Sodexo keep trying with these weird congees? A while back it was pumpkin congee in HK, and now butternut squash??

It’s really good!

The pumpkin one was horrible. Maybe the UK does better congee than HK.

So what do you eat the congee with? I'll try to see if i have time to stop at CX LHR lounge next week but no matter how good it is, I cannot imagine how it would taste like with chinese doughnut (油條) or other common congee condiments/toppings?

The Pier F menu January

Opted for the Penang style fish curry which was decent.
