The open potion between F and J exists because it's easier to just walk down the J side to gates 1, 2, 3 and 4. It's a longer walk to go all the way out to customs exit, down the escalator, and double back to gates 1, 2, 3, 4.

Usually the Haven manager standing at the hostess table will greet incoming pax from J side and politely ask them to show their BP. I've seem people asked to turn around and back to J side.

Good to know, thanks.

There ought to be better things you could do with your time in the city than hang around the airport.
Final destination.

I'm a lowly commoner and will be flying F (redemption award) for the first time in Jan and want to take advantage of all the richie rich perks coming my way!

Well, to get to Wing lounge you need an onward boarding pass because Wing is at Departure side of the airport. Only way to get there is for you to have an onward boarding pass going elsewhere, traveling in F, being CX DM, or OW-EM.

Besides, as nice as Wing is, any decent restaurant-bar in HK beats it, no since wasting time on a lounge when you have the actual HK experience.

that is great news. It seems like each time I've been in the Wing I see people joining from the J side. It does seem like lack of a person standing there encourages people to try.

Yeah, unfortunately I've also seen people poking around and wonder in and no one checked them. Maybe they are F-eligible, but it sure look like a big hole in lounge management. The old F-Wing used to have this little desk that is manned all the time and it can do some tasks for pax. Maybe they should revived this little desk at the open F-J portion.

I think one hour should be max and then do like Thai have in their first class lounges, a room for sleeping with partitions etc and all very soft lighting and very quiet. Spending 2 or 3 hrs in a cabana is selfish. The sleeping rooms in BKK are great and they come and wake you up so nicely with a drink and fruit and hot towel.

For the record, the 1.5-hr limit reads like a recommendation, "as a courtesy to fellow flyers" or some such. I would hardly call it official. Who knows how it would be enforced if it all.

On a related note, this blog post was delighted to announce earlier this year that "...there's still no time limit on the cabanas, so once you grab one it's yours until your flight leaves." Was it really understood that you were entitled to camp out indefinitely?

CX advertised the Cabanas as a place to rest. They even provided a sofa bed for you to sleep in. Surly it isn't too hard to infer that CX welcomes pax to enjoy the room, and nap, till your flight time.

I'm not against having time limit when there's a queue, but it should be clear and official, not as you said open to interpretation. If it's voluntary, fine, please don't knock on the door and asking a person to leave because a guy is yelling and screaming about wanting to use a cabana in the lounge.

I was flying F last week to CDG and arrived from the J section, I was surprised that no one checked my BP upstairs.

They did check it downstair at the J entrance.

Closure: MPO replied

Got a replied from MPO customer service executive. She expressed her shocked that such incident happened (a CX agent knocking on the door asking me to leave because there's a queue), and she said she will relay this to the lounge manager for better training and make sure such incidents do not happen again.

I went to CX Wing F Lounge this week for the first time and it was actually almost impossible to find a free sofa at 2PM Monday, whilst next door a few meters away in the J Lounge it was practically empty. Either there are alot of DM and OWEs around or the F Lounge needs a lounge dragon

Perhaps they could do what AA does in LAX TBIT, when you enter at lower floor, agent gives a swipe card for F Lounge access upstairs. When you go upstairs, swipe to open the automatic glass door and there is another agent desk to check again. Please don't flame me here CX definately has much nicer lounges than AA

Of course space is precious at The Wing F!

Actually a better idea is to convert the old temp f class section into a F section again.
