Philadelphia is closer imo to Washington-Dulles. I guess that there is not much demand in that area. If there is, hop over to Dulles.

Thats great news if it materializes! Im sure it will make a lot of people happy.
Over on another forum, there is speculation that this potential new daily HKG-EWR service is happening because YYZ is under performing and they plan to reduce frequency in YYZ in favor for daily EWR.... is this true?
I hope YYZ doesnt have any frequency cuts, the current 2x daily schedule was only recently implemented and it has great timings....

I can see EWR with the premium economy cabin while JFK caters to first class.

In fact, I am starting to think there are more Koreans in Greater Philadelphia area than Chinese...

I remember US applied for a route to PEK before everything went haywire around '08. They had approval, IIRC, but never went ahead an operated it.
Being pretty much smack in the middle of PHL and EWR, it's really about what airport is cheaper. Both are *A hubs if I'm looking to collect there. Both have BA across the pond if I want. But EWR has Asian routes, though only on CO (and SQ, if you want/can afford to fly in C) once Eva leaves.
I really think, IMHO, EWR can capture a sufficient chunk of JFK's market, at least enough for one CX flight. It's not that much more difficult to get to EWR from Manhattan than JFK. And it's one HELL of a lot easier from anywhere on the Jersey side of things.

Philly's number of Chinese people are low compare that to New York City. In fact, I think there are more Chinese in Mid-Jersey than city of Philadelphia. The Chinatown in Philadelphia is only 6 blocks by 3 blocks. Not exactly a booming community.

Quite a few Wall Street Exec who actually work on Wall Street (some of the banks are up on Park Avenue in midtown) live in NJ. With only six F seats and SQ/CO not offering F, F may actually be a hard ticket ex-EWR.

BTW, I flied CO99 to HK twice this year and its 50 BF seats were all sold out. If CX can run similar fare promotion as they did for new ORD route, it will not surprising to us if they can fill up business seats in a short time.

I really hope CX going to EWR is true. My family and I are actually taking CX this May to Philippines. Would be much better and closer to go to EWR.
If this does push through. What time you guys think the flight would depart EWR?

When flying Y, the JFK route is best to be avoided. Why? Way too many Mainlanders taking those flights. I'm also glad Hainan Airlines have been offering PEK-YYZ flights as well which means the flock of Mainland passegers into the HKG-YYZ flights won't be as great as before. Can't wait until the day CA also starts flying to YYZ to take away even more Mainlanders away from CX on that route. The less Mainlanders on CX, the better. Better relaxation opportunity and better organized.
When you have these people speaking in volumes of no control and refusing to wait in line when the lavs are fully occupied, it makes you want to jump out of the plane whenever the first opportunity arrives.
