I understand 77G will be a new delivery, not a retrofit.

What do you mean by YYZ based crew get 77G? All flight operated to YYZ will be with YYZ crew regardless of aircraft configuration no?

Looks like back to the old days when they used A340 without F on this route. It makes sense, since F is usually empty on this route.

Is this the start of phasing out F? Or only on selected routes?

CX are not dropping F. But a top heavy plane configured the way a 77A/77D is makes no sense for a route and frequency like YYZ, which has much stronger demand down the back. The 77G is a nice way to deal with that. I suspect we might see it replacing some of the creaking old A340s on European supplemental routes or JNB as more come on stream.

Only one of the two daily is operated by the YYZ crew.

There are rumours that once the Australian based guys start taking the annual leave owed to them, the company might put the 777 on SYD/MEL as a stop-gap!

In general it's 77W but CX uses internal codes to distinguish the configuration. There's no 77B and 77C either.

I wonder if 77E and 77F have been reserved for other configurations....maybe Y+ with F class.

My guess:

'A' - Boeing aircrafts with Olympus seats - 74A, 77A
'B' - Airbus aircrafts with Olympus seats - 33B, 34B

'D' - Boeing aircrafts with Cirrus J seats (F/J/Y config) - 77D
'E' - Airbus aircrafts with Cirrus J seats (J/Y config) - 33E

'C' has been used by KA for those 330s transferred from CX. (KA also has 33As, 33Ls and 33Rs, but CX uses 'B' and 'E' so no confusion.)

'F' not used - not to be confused with freighters?

Rumor stands for 3 kinds of config for 77W fleet in the future (medium-term)
1) 77D - F, new J, new Y (297 seat)
2) 77G - new J, new W, new Y (340 seat)
3) 77H - F, new J, new W, new Y (~260 seat)

Changes on the A333 remains to be seen.

hope this doesn't have the shell Y seats and has the new ones. *crosses fingers* would be nice if they put it on the JFK-HKG flights too

So no designation for rumored new F, yet.

From what I've heard there is no new F.
