Interlining and priority tags

Got an upcoming flight, ORD-LAX-HKG-KUL, with the ORD-LAX on AA and the LAX-HKG-KUL on CX (separate tickets). Past experiences and previous posts indicate that if you are flying F/J on CX and have interlined checked bags, CX will intercept the bags and attach the appropriate priority tags. However, this time, I will be flying in Y as a lowly SL. Will CX do the same for me? I only ask because at KUL, there is often a long wait between priority and non-priority bags (in addition to the long wait for the priority ones). Any relevant experiences would be appreciated.

Yes, most of the transpac airlines at LAX re-tag luggage as part of their load verification process, and to ensure that bags go into the right container. So if you aren't priority eligible on CX then it will become non-priority.

SL pax do get priority tags, even when in Y. But this is the first time that I'll be doing the route in Y, so I was wondering whether MPC elites in Y, like myself, will get the priority tags when interlining.

I recently flew ORD-LAX-HKG on AA/CX in Y, and my bags were NOT re-tagged at LAX. They had the original AA tag on it from ORD, along with the AA red colour priority tag that was there.

I got that because AA provides priority baggage tagging to OWE/OWS members.

oneworld member carriers are gradually changing their priority tags so that there is one uniform priority tag (similar to Star Alliance), i.e. AA priority tag with big oneworld logo, CX ground handling might actually recognize the AA-oneworld tags.

The problem is that I'm a SL/OW Ruby, so AA won't attach priority tags at ORD. I guess I'll check them to LAX and then re-check them there.

Trust me it's not worth the hassle, especially if you have a long connection, CX checkin won't even be open at LAX and you'll have to lug your bags around.

Save yourself the headache and just wait 5-7 minutes longer at HKG.

My final destination is actually KUL, where I've waited over half an hour between the last priority bag and the first non-priority bag. I also have a commitment shortly after arrival that I'd rather not be late to, so I think I'll just re-check. Thanks for the suggestion though.

This issue can be solved by Sep as by then CX will operate to ORD.

Serious though, I think it could hardly for the agent to identify the specific bag in LAX just to put on an additional priority tag.

im pretty sure in HKG, the baggage system is smart enough recognize "priority bags", so they will put your priority bags into the right bin without re-attach a priority tag.

Your bags are sought out by CX staff only if you're travelling in J/F or if you're DM.

But really, its not that important to get your bag a few mins faster, it? Is this one of those DYKWIA scenarios?

I have been spoiled by J-tag and now F-tag for a long time now. How long does it take for all of the bags to unload from a full 773ER? The last time I've waited that long at JFK was a good hour, so no it was not fun to not have a tag (at least in USA). But I'm sure HKIA staff are more efficient. So say you don't have a tag and you're unlucky enough to be the last batch of luggages, how long does it usually take?

Yea, I've waited about an hour for non-priority bags at KUL, this coming off a full 747 (not CX), so priority tags would be helpful. Not trying to be DYKWIA here

So then if you want priority treatment, then (as I have done) you'd check your domestic US check in luggage up to the CX departure point only and recheck in for your CX flight from there.
