Question Upgrading to business class using asiamiles

sorry to ask a stupid question but when can i make an upgrade award booking?? im in the eligible fare classes and i've been trying to book an upgrade to business class for my flight online but it kept saying "Due to internal system error, you are unable to proceed further with this booking. Please close all open browser windows and try again."

can i only book an upgrade 48 hours before the flight?? cuz my flight is on the 12th and im trying to book an upgrade today.... so i was wondering if i have to wait till 48 hours before the flight...

Welcome to Flyertalk....

Best for you to call Asiamiles and request upgrade. But it will depend if there are upgrade availability for your flight.

The CX website is terrible at handling upgrade awards. You're always better off calling MPC as there's no service charge. Strangely, on the old system, it generally always worked fine. The old system was way better anyway, as you could check availability of upgrades before ticketing the revenue bookings.

MPC is for MPC members. Non-MPC AM members should call Asia Miles.

Sorry to be blunt, but the CX website is terrible, full stop. I can't think of a single aspect of the site that is innovative, functional or even on par with what one would expect from a world class airline. Yes I know it's an airline and not an IT company...

IMHO, the woman who was fired for her incompetence on recent hardware product development should have taken the head of IT with her.

I have encoutered problem of on-line upgrading recently.

My registered name of MPC is "Wasabi Tofu"
Some reservation system registered my name "Wasabi Tofumr". This is common convetion for title.
When I tried to make on-line upgrade, the system responded as "Wasabi Tofumr" is not registered in your redemption group."(not exact phrase displayed, but you can understand meaning).
I called MPC, they said the system can not handle this case, so I need to call MPC for upgrading.

It's not just the upgrade system. If you try to access the MMB section of the website without logging in, the most frequent reason of failure to locate a record is because it thinks that Tofumr is a first name instead of just Tofu.

You'd think this case is common enough that they can plan around it, but I guess doing the obviously logical thing is not so logical to CX. When it comes to website design, CX throws logic out the proverbial emergency exit door.
