Everybody of course has their own favourites in Chinatown. As for me, for dinner (as opposed to dim sum), I'd go to Crispy Duck for a quick one dish meal (e.g. roast duck and rice; char siew and rice; crispy pork, tofu and rice etc) and that or somewhere else like Furama, Lido, Imperial China, New Loon Fung etc for a more conventional Chinese meal (lots of dishes in the centre to share and everybody eating plain - not fried - rice). I avoid certain restaurants where I've had bad experiences in the past, e.g. a stomach ache, finding flies in the food etc (NOT Wong Kei I hasten to add!).
Whilst Wong Kei is fine I'm sure (having eaten there a few times before), it's just not a place which I (being Chinese) or any friends or relatives have in mind when thinking of where to go in Chinatown for dinner. Nor is it a place (unlike a number of others in Chinatown) where Chinese people as far as I know hold wedding banquets.

Well then, I've just managed to snag a room at the Hoxton for 1 quid for the night in question. That raises the chances that I'll attend by rather a lot.
I'm off to see what I can do about flights...

All rooms are now sold out out, including the £29 ones. 1,000 rooms in 31 minutes.
I wonder how many of these went to FTer's ?

Would someone explain the meaning of monsoon season to Boddingtons.
Now here's a good idea. Let's start in the Dorchester Bar, and when it's time to dine, walk down the corridor into China Tang.
