That's quite different - and worthwhile.

A few stories have appeared over at paidtoshop, loyaltypoints and moneysavingexpert - if you do a search I'm sure you'll find relevant threads. You'd be surprised how many people (outside this board!) accumulate hundreds of pounds of vouchers.

I can't believe that you couldn't sell a brand new, boxed, with receipt, Rolex for 45% of its retail price to a specialist second-hand Rolex / fine watch dealer, of which there are about five in Bond St / Mayfair, rg http://www.secondtimeround.com/about%20us.html. Although, of course, its madness just to bump up your Amex spend unless there's at least 25% profit in it for you.

As you'll see here http://www.secondtimeround.com/rolex%20gents.html you pay 2/3rd of retail even for a very second-hand one.

Cheltenham Goldsmiths does Rolex-nice selection.
Short hop over the bridge from Cardiff....used to do it in 45 mins on way back from gigs...but then again that was at 4:30am on a sunday...

Would someone be so kind as to post a brief step by step of doing this if at all possible?

Have tescos acct, but not marriott.
Could do with a large wedge of miles as have the 2-4-1 on its way but not a vast amount of miles to use it!

Post 2 of this thread, but basically - open Marriott a/c (on the website), buy some points (link in Post 2), transfer to Tesco (online at the Marriott website) and thats that.

I currently have a marriott account which automatically credits my BA account (I only stay in a Marriott 2-3 times a year).

If I buy some Marriott points - will they automatically become BA miles (which I realise I don't want - I want to convert to Tesco points first) - anyone know where I stop them going to BA direct?

It just seemed too easy...like where is the catch?

One thing- do i have to have 125k MR before i transfer to get the full rate?
So need to do it twice?

When you choose automatic transfer to BA this only applies to your hotel stays. If you get points from marriott visa or buy points then they will go into your Marriott Rewards account.

registered on marriott and bought 99k points.
Havent posted yet, but have email saying will be notified when posted.
As soon as they do, I will purchase another load (going to have to restrain myself ) and get on the case with transferring them to tesco..

Then I can get busy working out the 2-4-1 later this year

Of course, knowing me this is bound to go wrong...

As a Euro-real (as opposed to Euro-cheat) I do not have a Tesco CC account.
However, my parents love to travel and are making use of their first 241 this year (thanks to FT!).

Could I buy Marriott points and then transfer them into my mom's Tesco's account? It would be a lovely surprise

Just to tackle my concerns, has anyone actually got the points in their Tesco account yet?

I think (could be wrong !) that sometimes Tesco partner points do not show up on your online balance and only appear when you get your statement. You may want to ring Tesco and see if they are there.

On a separate note, its interesting how little interest there has been on the Marriott board about the ability to buy points. The thread petered out very quickly. There are obviously no other clear win-wins apart from Tesco-BA. It IS cheaper to buy points for stays in New York or London than to pay for a room, but as Marriott does not guarantee to open up award rooms if you have the points and they have an empty room (unlike Starwood) the ability to exploit this loophole is limited.
