There is a VIS2 event on at the moment - presumably morning haze - so Regulation is set at a fairly tough 33/60 until 10:00 hrs, and this is causing extended holds - some over 40 minutes. However overall timekeeping isn't too bad, so I think it's just a few aircraft badly hit rather than lots of aircraft slightly delayed. (Just been eased to 37/60 so presumably the VIS is improving rapidly). Cancellations done previously are

BA552 FCO
and VY8961 to Orly, which I only mention because of the BA codeshare on it.

BA has 340 departures today, so quite busy, out of 679 for LHR.

Landing RWY: 09L
Airborne holding (mins): 12 peak
Departure RWY: 09R
TSAT delay average (mins): 0

Heathrow: EGLLTC regulation 42/60 0540-1700z due capacity.
Network: Capacity reg into EHAM (low delays). Capacity regs through Greek airspace and weather through Hungarian airspace

Weather: ML risk of VIS2 conditions until 0600z. Airfield safeguarded since 0447z. Easterlies expected throughout.

Three shorthauls cancelled, and since they are morning, noon and afternoon it suggests that one aircraft or crew is unable to play today.

BA556 FCO
BA1370 MAN
BA1460 EDI.
BA556 FCO - DAMY - lining damage in cargo holds
BA1370 MAN - ODRY - odour event investigation.
BA1460 EDI - TECY - Fleet serviceability issues.

Im guessing the fix for G-EUYO may not have lasted long onboard a (not yet cancelled) delayed BA528 to LIS today due to electrical system issues, not looking great so far!

Sometimes these issues come back which then leads to another round of fault finding. Not sure if it was the same issue or unrelated. In any case you arrived 3:04 late and you know already that it was due to Technical Defects with the aircraft.

Its a TECY due to a double wheel change requirement and the inordinate age it took to get an engineer along.

I gathered that this was one of those old bits of DAT junk that BA have hired to farm out their excess flight load. Good. Serve them right even though it caused great inconvenience to their clientele

Wednesday 8 May - update

BA462 MAD = TECY
See above for details, it was done very late on.

Thursday 9 May 2024 - Ascension Day, public holiday in many countries.

Nil cancellations for any airline today, bit unusual.

Moderately good timekeeping. BA has 343 flights departing today out of 681 for LHR. There was an emergency landing at 14:00 hrs which did cause about 15 minutes of disruption around 14:00 hrs, I don't know the details. There would be some details to traffic going west, south and over Dover today, just heavy traffic. Hopefully that nice high pressure area sticks around for a bit, it's been lovely up here.

Landing RWY: 27R
Airborne holding (mins): 4
Departure RWY: 27L
TSAT delay average (mins): 1

Network: 43 Regulations across Europe. LGAV (Athens) Arrivals regulated due to ATC Capacity - Moderate to high delays.
LSZH (Zurich) Arrivals regulated due to Weather (Wind direction) - Moderate to high delays

Weather: Dry with a good deal of sunshine as high-pressure remains in charge.

I've never had issues going over the 200 several times.

If you could, take a screenshot of some booking site showing the best rates you can find is higher than 200, just in case it is questioned.

Since you are so close, odds are they will not question it.

Thursday 9 May update

BA179 JFK

I am putting this down since I can see it's been cancelled, but the staff didn't clear down IDAHO so it still looks like it is about to board. I don't know the reason yet.

Friday 10 May 2024

Cancellations today
BA790 GOT
BA285 SFO = A380 aircraft

Fairly busy day for BA today and luckily the weather is good. 343 departures from LHR out of a total of 680. Regulation was in place due to demand rather than weather but it got stood down at 10:30 hrs.

Landing RWY: 09L
Airborne holding (mins): 12
Departure RWY: 09R
TSAT delay average (mins): 0

Network: 59 Regulations across Europe. EHAM (Amsterdam) Arrivals regulated due to capacity- Moderate delays.
LGAV (Athens) Arrivals regulated due to capacity - High delays.
LPPT (Lisbon) Arrivals regulated due to capacity - Moderate delays.
LSZH (Zurich) Arrivals regulated due to Weather (wind direction) - Moderate to high delays.
LFMM (Marseille) West sectors (FL355-375) regulated due to ATC Capacity - Moderate to high delays .

Weather: A fine and bright day with light easterly winds. High cloud should dissipate at times to bring sunny spells.
