By no means to cause any offence, and more for learning and discussion, how does this process work? It seemed like there was still a signifiant amount of time after the BA 787 emergency landed and departures resumed. Was this because of the build up of holding arriving aircraft caused by the emergency?

It's not the rain. Its the 3000ft winds. This reduces the landing rate by one or two aircraft per hour. If other airports were scheduled to over 99% of capavity, they would struggle too.

I'll put today's (Thursday) ATC report here since it's interesting. HAL also sent out a round robin on the topic so that indicates HADACAB is happening. Whereas chez Domaine CWS the snow is coming down at a rate of knots so I think I'm going to be stuck here for a day or two; but down in London it's another sort of weather. HEX and Liz are badly disrupted due to a serious incident at West Ealing. Regulation - mentioned above - they have tightened this to 33/60 and then 31/60 from 13:00 hrs. The ontime departure / arrival rate is all red, so delays everywhere really.
Landing RWY: 09L
Airborne holding (mins): 5
Departure RWY: 09R
TSAT delay average (mins): 0
EGLLTC Reg: 42/60 0600-0900z, 40/60 0900-1200z, 38/60 1200-1500z and 41/60 1500-2000z. Rates subject to tactical adjustments as required. Average delays to EGLL arrivals (due EGLLTC reg) 10-15mins.
Network: 29 regulations across Europe for first rotations. Airfield regs for ELLX, EHAM, LCLK, LEAL and EBBR. Enroute regs for Paris and Sevilla ACCs. Average delays to EGLL departures <10mins.
Weather: Easterly Ops until ~1200z then end change to Westerly Ops (actual time TBC). Cloudbase currently 400' but not expected to reach VIS 2 levels. Heavy rain and surface gusts ~25kts possible throughout the day. Other: Multiple Go-Arounds already experienced so far.

Today's cancellations
BA490 GIB => AGP - diversion, so presumably poor weather on the Rock.
BA584 MXP = INDN
BA590 MXP = INDN
BA576 MXP = INDN
BA572 MXP = INDN
BA540 BLQ = INDN
That gives a fairly strong departure rota today of 329, for a February. Timekeeping is only so-so today, here's the ATC report:
Landing RWY: 27L
Airborne holding (mins): 5
Departure RWY: 27R
TSAT delay average (mins): 0
EGLLTC Reg: 39/60 0630-1500z and 41/60 1500-2300z due strong winds. Average CTOT delays for EGLL arrivals (due EGLLTC reg) ~20-25mins
Network: 49 regulations across Europe for first rotations. Airfield regs for EHAM, ELLX, LEAL and LPPT. Enroute regs for Paris, Langen, Sevilla, Marseilles and Lisboa ACCs. Average CTOT delays for EGLL departures ~10-15mins.
Weather: Showers (heavy at times) with a Medium risk of CBs in the LTMA.

My BA2543 from AMS-LGW for Saturday 10th Feb has been cancelled. Anyone know why?
Plus why is it BA find it impossible to auro-send either a text message or e-mail to alert a pax when a flight is cancelled FFS? . I only happened to find out this afternoon because I went onto the BA app to check the flight number so I could alert my GF who was picking me up so she could time her arrival at LGW. Why does BA find the basics of simple communication so difficult?

Ba267 lhr-pdx
Today, Heathrow suffered a computer systems failure at check in and security (inc fast track) was anything but.
A member of staff at the gate tripped and banged her head which delayed boarding of the BA267 to Portland slightly, but then we all sat onboard for 3 1/2 hours waiting for a second First Officer to arrive.
the crew were excellent despite some difficult customers, well done to all.
