Nonetheless, there may be ample security concerns that we are not privy to, and if someone said to me that I required security I wouldn't be turning it down.
Politics aside, I don't wish danger on anyone, whether I voted for them or not. As a taxpayer, I am perfectly fine with former Prime Minsters having security where required. Much bigger things to be concerned about.

I would hazard a guess that, for example, the cost to the US taxpayer for a President both in office and for the rest of their lives would be significantly higher (even on a per capita basis).

A few years ago I saw a recent US Secretary of State waiting for the transit at LHR T5 arrivals with no apparent security. I was surprised.

Very interesting! Just looked up the register of MP’s interest which clearly record every visit by May through Heathrow / the Windsor Suite. Also confirms she is a BA Prem! 570 odd pages to look through but wonder how many BA Prems could be accounted for here?
