That's why I said it's Prime Minister dependent.

Nonetheless, there may be ample security concerns that we are not privy to, and if someone said to me that I required security I wouldn't be turning it down.

Politics aside, I don't wish danger on anyone, whether I voted for them or not. As a taxpayer, I am perfectly fine with former Prime Minsters having security where required. Much bigger things to be concerned about.

At the rate that you guys change PMs, this is going to get really expensive really fast. How many PMs did the UK have after Blair?

Five "former" Prime Minister since Tony Blair. That's six total since the 1997 election. So 6 in 26 years is about one every 4 and a half years. Not actually massively unusual for our 4/5 year election cycle.

I would hazard a guess that, for example, the cost to the US taxpayer for a President both in office and for the rest of their lives would be significantly higher (even on a per capita basis).

We also have to remember that former Prime Ministers (and Presidents etc) are in possession of very secret information relating to defence etc which could do terrible damage if “extracted” from them and placed in the wrong hands.

Must be odd for Jenson to be in First once more... Did he think had a podium?

Really? Have you seen the security detail former US Presidents get for life?

A few years ago I saw a recent US Secretary of State waiting for the transit at LHR T5 arrivals with no apparent security. I was surprised.

It's tough to keep Trump quiet even on the best of days.

It is more likely because you appear to be in a seat outside the fuselage..

It would be very unusual for there to be a seat 1K on any BA flight to / from VIE 😁

Very interesting! Just looked up the register of MP’s interest which clearly record every visit by May through Heathrow / the Windsor Suite. Also confirms she is a BA Prem! 570 odd pages to look through but wonder how many BA Prems could be accounted for here?
