Looks like the Head of Communications at Marriott has taken a new job at BA.
The email is totally vague and does not give any answers. At a minimum they could have given one example of how the # of miles required is changing.

"Don’t worry if you have an existing Avios booking with a partner airline. It’s still valid and you can make changes or cancel it if you need to*. Our new Avios prices will apply to any changes or new bookings you make after 30 May 2019."

So if you make changes to dates/times after 30 May, will you have to pay the difference in Avios for the new flight? So book AA from JFK-MIA in coach for November. Price: 7,500 Avios. Let's say price rises to 20,000 Avios. Will changes be based on availability of award seats, regardless of the increase redemption level? So an additional charge of 12,500 Avios, or just the change fee?

Booking now under current rates with the intention of changing the dates after May 30 may or may not be a valid strategy.

What is changing with our partner airlines?
From 30 May 2019, we’ll be changing our Avios prices on reward flights with the following partner airlines: Alaska Airlines, Air Italy, American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Japan Airlines, LATAM, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Qatar Airways, S7, Sri Lankan and Royal Jordanian Airlines.

The price of Avios upgrades on American Airlines only will also be changing.

All Avios pricing is subject to taxes, fees and carrier charges. Example taxes, fees and carrier charges on partner airlines at Wednesday 17 April 2019 for a return journey with outbound travel on 5 May 2019 and inbound on 12 May 2019 are:

Same opinion here. Iam trying to use up avios on AA domestic USA. Not much info but agree it will go to worse from bad !

My money is on that changing too.

I also thought after the last devaluation BA promised to give 6 months notice of any further changes.

It is not really acceptable to say 'changes will be happening from May 30th' but not announce what the changes are. So they MUST either:

1) announce the changes shortly, and well before May 30th; or
2) announce the changes on May 30th but have them not be effective for a number of weeks or months.

I'm personally surprised that they're changing partner redemptions; I thought BA would be going the way of fare-based redemptions on their own/IAG metal, but keeping partner redemptions the same.

But why announce the change but not the substance of it at all?

Appreciate that they may want to hit deadlines but if that's the case, they really haven't succeeded even if they think they have!

Don't think it's just those routes because the partner airline list where changes will occur contains airlines not operating those routes.

The above list looks like somebody started making it but couldn't be bothered to finish it off, adding the number of avios required. Though, the list showing part of the current prices on a random selection of routes seems pretty pointless.

Who on earth composes this crap and who on earth would allow this to be sent to customers? Feels like somebody spent five minutes composing it, then figured it was time to go home so let's just send it out without finishing it.

I'd only assume the worst. No reason not to given recent changes at practically every other large airline. Was hoping to use my stash for some domestic Australia flights next year...

God forbid BA tells us what the changes will be before they are implemented?
