Isn't it something like "below 100", hence there is one missing 2-seat row from what is otherwise a pretty standard E90 configuration of 25 rows x 4 seats?

Wouldn’t they need an extra crew member - so more economic to leave a few seats empty and save on expenses

EASA certification has capped E190-100SR at 98 pax, E190 with 114 pax requires 3 cabin crew (just looked at EASA certification document)

Thanks - I thought that 98 was because of the scope clause. But certification and cabin crew complement also make sense.

It’s one crew member per 50 seats or part thereof. So up to (and including) 100 seats = 2 crew. 101 or more = 3 crew.

My wife, via LinkedIn, has been notified of a vacancy in her field at BA Waterside. Now, the base salary means that she is unlikely to be tempted to apply. However, I’m just wondering what (if any) perks are likely to apply in this case, particularly with regard to staff travel.

Gold Benefits kick off timeline !!!!

I’ve read elsewhere that your Gold Benefits are useable straight away while you wait for your app/account to update!!! but when exactly?? I fly into LHR on a trans Atlantic which gets me to Gold (First time) then have a three hour wait for connecting BA flight to Dub!! I presume I won’t be able to check out the First lounge during layover?? Otherwise will have to wait a month for my next LHR visit.

Unlimited standby travel for her and two nominees, or her plus spouse plus all dependent children. Priced at ID90 fares, roughly £90 shorthaul and £240 longhaul in economy on a variety of airlines (all of oneworld plus others with agreement), plus ‘premium standby’ on BA only for 2x the fare component (ie roughly +£50 shorthaul/+£100 longhaul each way) on BA which gives business eligibility. All subject to there being free seats and staff ranked in order of date of joining.

Also depending on seniority 1 or 2 waitlist/confirmable return staff travel tickets per year at lower cost and with business eligibility, ranked in order or seniority and then date of joining.

Worth up to possibly £5,000 a year pre-tax over a salary bump but I’d struggle to justify more than that.

As previous posters have said- 50 pax is the magic number. A large number of smaller aircraft - have 50 seats. Not 51 or 52. 50= 1 cabin crew.

its why (generally) aircraft don't have 101, 153 or 204 seats. The bigger the aircraft, the more additional cabin crew makes sense - especially in a multi class cabin.

Once you're into wide bodied aircraft doing long haul, then it's a trade off between service and biz case for the carrier.

The larger the aircraft, the more variance between carriers who trade off legality vs customer service. ie compare the legacy carriers who throw headcount on the staffing vs those who put the minimum number on they can get away with.

It usually takes 24 hours for the tier points to even show then another 24-72 hours for the app/website to update. If you show the tier points and account balance to the lounge dragon you may be permitted access but YMMV.

Thumbs down Lukewarm Soup

There have been a few comments on the “3 Lobster Starters” thread about lukewarm soup being served in both F and J. My wife likes the soup, but as with most meals prefers it served hot ... her last 2 attempts in J have resulted in the soup being returned as simply too cold.

Is this a caterer issue, inadequate on-board stowage, or Health & Safety?

Thanks! I guessed that was the storage method. There would seem to be a lot of faulty flasks in circulation!

I had a similar contact via LinkedIn for a role in IAG GBS at Waterside. I understand that GBS is the only division not to include travel benefits.

Yup, which explains for instance the constant bleed of skilled Procurement folks over in Krakow, who are leaving in droves to the likes of Lufthansa (located nearby and offering SBY including on LOT).
