Welcome to the thread. This is a continuation of the highly popular 2018 Tier Point thread (found here). We keep track of other prices, as well as useful reference information for those planning tier point runs.

Please read the first few posts in this thread first as it contains lots of information which may answer your question.

This is a community-maintained wiki post. Please add important information to it or correct outdated information by clicking the "Edit" button below.

A new guideline thread for TP meetups has been created on 31 March 2020. If you would like other members to join your TP, or if you want to organize a TP run with other members. Please visit there. From the first few posts over there you could see the active ( confirmed ) TP meetings and the links to their relevant discussion threads, connect with other members and learn the details about the run. Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post 4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread (here), MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and return on Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

any fare that includes BA1 (east bound can be on wide body) that has crossed around? Trying to find anything from IVN/NCL where the prices is affordable/I am willing to pay but nothing with baby bus. Can travel anytime and from everywhere just thought about IVN/NCL to be the cheapest starting point.

I'm trying to decipher the fare rule to see what other countries this applies to (I miss my 14 segment PTY run )

Just reporting back for any northeast US based folks here.

Background, I'm based near PHL.

I just did
a TP run a few weeks ago to San Salvador (SAL), visiting friends on either end of it.
The TP per $ on the run itself was in my acceptable range. Positioning not so much but that was half vacation for me so, for me personally, worked out and I accept that cost.
The 800+TP run to Panama last year was much more fruitful but I had a good time and got some TP along the way for this one so I'm still happy.

(Positioning) PHL - BOS - LAX (hanging with a friend in BOS for the afternoon, otherwise would have done direct PHL - west coast) $197
45 TP / 4668 Avios
(TP Run) LAX -> MCO -> MIA -> SAL -> MIA -> CLT -> SAN $737.86 440 TP ($1.67/TP) / 16,801 Avios - I class the whole way
(going home) SAN -> LAX -> PHL $161 (spent the day in San Diego with a friend. This was actually a skiplagged rate through to Boston) 25TP / 1225 Avios

Had more debacles than usual.. my LAX-MCO was delayed big time due to 100+ kids breaking the lav on the arriving plane. Had to switch planes after everyone was already on, at midnight.. ended up missing my original MCO-MIA but no big deal as there are plenty of them. My MIA-CLT was also delayed for who knows what, so, didn't get much sleep that night.

I tried to use flagship check-in at LAX and was denied at the curb. She said I had to be on LAX-JFK or LAX-BOS to use it. LAX-MCO didn't cut it even at BA gold / OWE. I didn't want to argue much as I wasn't sure of the policy, but, worth the try. I did however use the Flagship lounges at both LAX and MIA again, really like them.

phl bos 10TP 750 avios
bos lax 35TP 3918 avios
lax MCO 140TP 4988 avios
MCO mia 40TP 1125 Avios
mia sal 40TP 2275 avios
sal mia 40TP 2275 Avios
mia clt 40TP 1465 Avios
clt san 140TP 4673 avios

Just add 'LON BA1' in advance controls field on ITA Matrix and you'll get it:

Might actually look at nesting flights to give myself more time.

Still playing around with whether to try and start in FRA or MAD. A lot of the flights I can get to MAD from MAN only arrive at 3pm or 10pm onwards (some are far cheaper from there than direct from London), and if I have to start adding in loads of petrol, driving, parking etc., it defeats the purpose of the trip cost wise.
Same day b2b can definitely be booked off the LATAM web site. I'm doing it two days in a row during the May bank holiday weekend. I wasn't aware of the TCB cashback though! Something to consider for my next run.

I think FRA-MAD is more expensive than the other way around - weekend tics from FRA are close to £200 while the ones from MAD are £150.

Yeah, prices ex FRA used to be better. There were crazy runs possible with routings such as FRA-MAD-VLC-PMI-IBZ-AGP // AGP-MLN-LEI-SQV-MAD-FRA, all business except for the legs PMI-IBZ and LEI-SQV, at a price of EUR 300.

Now, the best you can do ex FRA is like FRA-MAD-LIS/AGP // LIS/AGP-MAD-FRA for like EUR 320 and 160 TP...

Am I right is calculating that at 920 TP? That's a great find if so. Have you tried actually booking it? I just tried and the price came back at £1500 - scratch that - I got it to price at that price

Finnair often have sales from Spain and Portugal too Delhi for a decent price. You want either Lisbon or Malaga, as those are both 140 TPs each way in Business. Avoid BCN / MAD etc, those only come it at 40 TPs... Doha to most of India is only 40 TPs too, so it's the best route TP wise (though not always price wise, depending on sales) for One World from Europe to India.

I just had a look for both and AGP is cheaper than LIS. Just with my very basic look. AGP-HEL-DEL rtn. Outbound on the 13/14 (day before) and Inbound on 22 (day after) is £1296 return for 560TP. Not dreadful at £2.31/TP.

That would be total 1400TP for £2364 at £1.69/TP which is certainly not bad.

Not a great price to TP ratio but BA are offering LHR-BOM/DEL for £2,399 roundtrip in F until the 9th March...

I'm in the middle of a DUB-HEL run and planning my next TP trip. Has anyone found any decent TP runs (say <£2/TP) that don't require an overnight stay? I checked domestic legs in the UK but most of them are closer to £3/TP.

Ok people, I have a challenge for you. I hope someone can help me.

I am currently Gold, have been for a few years. Year ends 8 June.
I have taken no earning flights at all this year. I would like to renew status so I am on a mission to get my 1500TP. I will take a couple of flights to Spain but that's all.
I have previously done Hawaii TP runs, Cairo to SIN, etc.
The reason that I need your help, is that my husband (GGL and CCR) was a member here and used to book all the TP runs, using Matrix. He died suddenly in August, hence no flights for a while. I am feeling up to travelling again, and he would be very annoyed if after all his efforts I just let my status lapse without even trying, but the learning curve is just too steep for me to grasp this in the little time I have to get stuff booked.
I can travel from 2-8 April, over Easter (but I expect no bargains there) and 29 May-5 June. Premium for longhaul, and the odd night in an actual bed will be needed. Base airport is MAN. Obviously I want to spend as little as I can!

Is this even possible?

Firstly, very sorry to hear about the sad news. I can’t begin to think how you might feel. Hope you’re doing well however, and pleased you are up for travelling again.

As for the TP run, I’m sure 1500TP is very possible but not necessarily for the price you might want. All in including hotels I’d be surprised if you could do it for less than £3k-£4k. As for where, I have no idea. Certainly not a Matrix wizz so best of luck and I’m sure someone on here will be able to find something that is prefect for you. There really are some Matrix wizards on here. All I can suggest is look above and see if any work for your dates?

Best of luck with it all. I’m sure someone will be able to help. ^
