Welcome to the thread. This is a continuation of the highly popular 2018 Tier Point thread (found here). We keep track of other prices, as well as useful reference information for those planning tier point runs.

Please read the first few posts in this thread first as it contains lots of information which may answer your question.

This is a community-maintained wiki post. Please add important information to it or correct outdated information by clicking the "Edit" button below.

A new guideline thread for TP meetups has been created on 31 March 2020. If you would like other members to join your TP, or if you want to organize a TP run with other members. Please visit there. From the first few posts over there you could see the active ( confirmed ) TP meetings and the links to their relevant discussion threads, connect with other members and learn the details about the run. Click here to access that thread.

Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post 4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread (here), MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and return on Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

Hi Smid. I would point you to the section in post 1 where I advise the other threads and boards you should keep an eye on. There is no one thread on FT which catches everything and this thread is no exception. There is life beyond the TP run thread on FT!

Other FT threads/boards to watch & external sites
The TP run thread is often a place where good fares are posted aimed at good TP earning. However, it isn’t the only place on FT where such fares are discussed. Here are some other threads/boards you may wish to subscribe to which all relate to good fares.

Yeah, I know, if the pound wasn't going to be worth buttons for years, I'd be booking the VS MAN-LAS fare on the premium fares board just posted...

I did used to rely on this thread and the BA Premium one being decent spotters and cross posters of the good deals in times gone past. Looks like not enough activity in it except occasional arguments about lack of activity in the thread...

TP Run in October

Hi my friends.

I have "unexpected holidays" to take (1 week) with the wife and we are looking at a TP run (anytime between 10/10 and 30/10).

Been looking around but can't seem to find any current TP run. Any idea?

Cheers!

October is a dull (understatement) month for westward runs, unless one combines with positioning to DEL, and ditto from JFK /more airports possible described here
That will in fact be a "westward" run as per destination, no ?

There is, of course the long-running UL eastward run here , easily combined with the returning MH sale to many destinations from CGK via KUL

Anyone looking to top up their TPs, I can see LHR-HEL return for around £248 in spring next year - 160TP at £1.55 / TP. Looks like it needs a Saturday night stay, although I can also see HEL-LHR for £300ish so you could nest them - which would get you 320 TP for £550ish. I believe HEL can be quite good for B2B? Google Flights

Yes, unfortunately it seems only to be the BA flights, the Finnair A350 not an option

Yes HEL is fine for b2b, there are some comments in the b2b thread and here too Immediate turnaround in HEL

These cheaper BA fares to HEL usually only apply to the BA operated flights, so doesn't tend to cover the AY operated flights even if booked under the BA shareholder.

I guess it depends on how many TPs you are looking to get from the run? I am using QR in Oct from ARN (with positioning from LHR) to SIN to gain a few to keep Silver.

Not sure if this qualifies as a TP run, but Oneworld RTW biz class prices from Pakistan with optimal routing can net 1,840 TP’s at £2.04/TP

Hello all!
I'm very new to the points game, so thank you for all the great posts!
My question is about combining two separate tickets into one. I am looking for a London - Tokyo return flight, which will earn me good points. So far I've found
LHR - DME (BA 0233, PE) - NRT (S7 4121) return. If you book LHR - DME on BA you earn 90 miles, then DME - NRT (operated by JL) on S7 earns you 70 miles, because S7 only offers economy flex tickets. If you pick the right dates LHR - DME return costs £380 for PE and DME - NRT costs £550. So you pay £930 for a part PE London - Tokyo flight and earn 320 miles. The problem is that no one sells these tickets together. I tried it on Matrix and it gave a £2000+ price. I would buy separately, but the return flight has only 1 hour transfer and I don't want to risk it. Any ideas how I can combine these 2 tickets into 1? Thank you!

Looks like the OTP-PHX deal is back for Easter time 2020. About £1480/$1780 before getting creative (https://www.google.com/flights#flt=O...;sc:b;sd:1;t:f)

Looks like OTP-LHR-HEL-JFK-LAX-PHX and back again could do 920 TPs for £1480, so £1.54/TP

Any chance to get the fare rules? On holiday ATM so don't have access to a laptop to fire up Matrix!
