Welcome to the thread. This is a continuation of the highly popular 2018 Tier Point thread (found here). We keep track of other prices, as well as useful reference information for those planning tier point runs.

Please read the first few posts in this thread first as it contains lots of information which may answer your question.

This is a community-maintained wiki post. Please add important information to it or correct outdated information by clicking the "Edit" button below.

A new guideline thread for TP meetups has been created on 31 March 2020. If you would like other members to join your TP, or if you want to organize a TP run with other members. Please visit there. From the first few posts over there you could see the active ( confirmed ) TP meetings and the links to their relevant discussion threads, connect with other members and learn the details about the run. Click here to access that thread.

Please remember to:
  • Convert currencies to GBP, rounding to the nearest pound.
  • Post full routes and full booking classes.
  • Note any restrictions on booking in the Notes section.
  • List in order of price per tier point within the relevant departure area.

Please see the links at the bottom of the wiki for archives of runs from previous years.

Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post 4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread (here), MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and return on Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

The UK link is broken for some time, trick is to take the US link and change `US` to `GB`

Oh :-( Too late. That's a shame. It would saved me ~$87. I should've thought about this.

Also, I've just realised that changing from domestic AA to international BA and viceversa will be a pain...

Anyone can still get CDG-SFO/LAX for 2020? I could have priced at AA CDG-LHR, LCY-JFK-SFO-JFK-LCY, LHR-CDG but at the last step the site went error or showed higher price. Could not price anything later on for May. Gone?

You are right, not the best. However typically the fare will all two connections in the US so I would imagine easily optimised to give 640 TPs so a better ratio is possible.

Indeed (amateurs :-) ) .... For the dates above 15/01 - 29/01 LHR-JFK-LAX-SFO / SFO-LAX-JFK-LHR for GBP 1595 in J giving 640 TP = GBP 2.49 per TP.

Okey, due to spending most of the last year living overseas, I find myself needing 2 x BA flights to meet the minimum BA flight requirement for requalification.

Based in London. LHR is easiest for me. LGW or LCY are ok if necessary. Need to do this by early August, on a weekday late afternoon or early evening.

Thinking of flying LHR-EDI and then EDI-LHR back on the same aircraft (ie with BA's turn around time, walking off the airplane then walking straight back on, assuming it is the same aircraft).

I've tried booking on ba.com LHR-EDI then what I think is the same aircraft about 40 mins later EDI-LHR. Everytime I get to the price calculation page, it rejects it with one flight not available. Any ideas? I suppose I could book two one-ways, but then if BA do use different aircraft and the LHR-EDI leg is late, I could end up missing the return.

BA.com won't let you book this because you won't meet the minimum connection time (MCT) at EDI. Two one ways is the way to do it. Use flightradar24.com or similar to look at the flight numbers that you're booking - see if they historically use the same aircraft - some of them will night stop up in EDI and not return on what might seem like the logical next flight.

You can't book it as a direct return because you're not meeting the MCT.

It will need to be 2 x OW flights. Booking as you are suggesting is not without risk, but it's considered very low risk (if the outbound is delayed or cancelled, then so will the inbound flight).

This may be to do with MCT (minimum connection time) but if MCT is not an issue here, I seem to recall something like BA.com forcing a connection of some time regardless of the MCT and therefore can only be booked as either 2x one ways or on the phone.

EDIT: Wozza2404 beat me, I keep getting beaten today!

Just to clarify, this is MCT at EDI

STANDARD.D/D...D/I...I/D...I/I.
ONLINE .30 .45 .45 1.00
OFFLINE .30 .45 .45 1.00

** OR * ARE ALL

BA-BA DD .50 FLT 4066 - FLT 2939
BA-BA DD 1.00
MCT is 30 minutes, but for some bizarre reason not understandable to man nor dog BA has a specific MCT of 1 hour! Same for GLA btw, Anyway, unless the turnaround is an hour or more this couldn't be booked as a return and must be booked as two one ways.

Typically for other outstations like NCL, LBA, INV, AMS etc the MCT is less than turnaround. BA.com will not sell you a return even though it is bookable, so you would have to call to book.

For anyone in central Scotland looking for points some good options to SOF for under £2 / TP . I booked GLA-SOF 8th-10th Nov £377 and 240tp for £1.57 per TP
Only £1.82 per TP inc 5* hotel via BA
The outbound is on the actual date of my TP year end. I assume if I want the return ( just two days later ) credited to the same year ill need to ask BA. Can anyone offer guidance of when to make that request , is it before or after the flights ?

I believe the request will only be considered after the flights.
