Arrived in Helsinki on BA794 yesterday; it was also my first flight on an A320NEO. Does anybody know why, when jet bridges are clearly available, BA are sent to a remote stand? I’m not complaining as walking down the stairs in -9 degrees was a good start to our Christmas holiday!
At the end of 2019 after the expansion is completed the non-Schengen part of the terminal will have 16 widebody gates of which 4 can accommodate either one widebody or two narrowbodies simultaneously. At that time even the (sole) BA flight should therefore have a good shot at a jetbridge position.

Due to the construction of the new western pier there is currently no more than 7 jetbridge positions for non-Schengen flights at HEL. BA794 arrives in the middle of AY's main Asian wave which includes 10+ widebody arrivals&departures that take priority on the jetbridge positions.

Perhaps it might be better to delete past flights as occurs in some other wikis (e.g. Meet up thread) rather than strikethrough?

Well I'm about to set off on Friday morning, but from the wiki it looks like I'm going to be on my own. Stupidly decided to go on a dry January, so 6 flights in CE with sparkling water as my only bubbles... Still the Champagne will flow when I hit gold in April!
If anyone's around, I'll be in 2A or 2F for all my flights, do say hi! I've put my LHR times in the general meet-up thread too. Looks like nobody has had issues with their B2Bs so looking forward to Sunday evening!

I've seen people posting about how busy the Finnair lounge has been due to the upgrade
I'm here right now and there's plenty empty seats and tables good food on offer the only negative I have I paper plate and plastic cups but I can live with that.
First time here and it's a lovely lounge and in my opinion better food on offer than almost @ Home lounge
leaving in 1 hour if anybody is about

yes the premium lounge is still closed. Spoke to the staff member working today and she told me the much expanded premium lounge will be 3 times the size it was before and will reopen “at the end of next month”. She went on to explain the business lounge will then close for refurb and that the split levels are being taken out as part of the plan.

Having just got back from my trip, I would thoroughly recommend actually visiting Helsinki should a good fare come up again! It’s a fantastic city. Seems a waste to just stay at the airport and come straight back!
Everything was walkable, even when it was -12c! If you’re into saunas, then the Löyly one is well worth a visit (inc. a dip in the Baltic Sea to cool down between sessions). Other places worth checking out include the Market Square for some salmon soup and touristy souvenirs if you want them, Senate Square and Temppeliaukio Church (built into a big rock). It’s a great place to just walk around and explore.
I posted up thread about whether you can access the gosleep pods at HEL the night before - luckily you can and I had a solid 6 hour sleep there last night. It’s not well sign posted, but it’s between gates 28 and 29 after security but before passport control. Just head up the stairs towards Burger King.
