You think it's a lie?
Part of the reason is the two airports will have a short overlap of flights and you cannot have the same IATA code for two concurrently operating airports.
If you have factual source content showing it's not temporary, then do so, but no need to just tilt at windmills and intentionally mislead people out of boredom.

That code represents a city, or multi-airport system, just as LON corresponds to London and covers airports serving the London area.
IST is one of those awkward ones where the three letters represent the city and its principal airport. It's a situation that can come about when a new airport emerges where previously only one had served the city. For Istanbul, newly constructed Sabiha Gökçen opened as the city's second airport in 2009: it was designated as SAW, while Atatürk kept its IST code.
We now have a third airport operating in the mix - and this has been designated ISL. This might be a temporary measure, the intention being to transfer the IST code to the new airport.
Until the end of the year there will only be a small number of TK service offered to (mainly) domestic destinations from ISL. These are service additional to the full schedule operated by TK at IST - so there will be no need for anyone to transfer between the airports. For the time being
The new year is the next scheduled change-over date, but the collective breath of most observer is not being held.
For BA, and other international carriers flying into Istanbul, the switch will be relatively simple: but for TK it could be a nightmare.

It would be "fun" to stand at the arrivals desk in IST (the Ataturk one) and demand that BA finds you a free transfer to ISL. I reckon that would take more than 3 hours of arguing (plus the actual transfer time), so would then prima facie trigger EC261 compensation.

This all shows just how inept BA's social media team can be. By the time they had started posting that BA flights would move to ISL, everyone, and I mean everyone including the rah rah types already knew that it would be the beginning of 2019 at a minimum that it would occur, and now you have them talking about BA landing at ISL, when everyone and every press release clearly states that this is not so.

FCO have updated their advice
https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-ad...tent=immediate
Flights started operating out of the new airport in Istanbul (Istanbul Airport with IATA airport code ISL) on 31 October 2018. Only limited Turkish Airlines flights to the following destinations: Baku, Lefkosa (Ercan), Izmir, Antalya and Ankara, will operate into/out of this airport until January 2019 with the vast majority of Turkish Airlines flights to and from these destinations continuing to operate into/out of Istanbul Ataturk Airport. Passengers who may be affected by these changes should contact their airline for further information.

IST is to move to the new airport and the old IST gets a new code. The old IST will become a "private" airport, no passenger traffic based on the BBC link I posted.

Timing of BA's switch from Ataturk to Istanbul new airport
Apologies if this is elsewhere (the all-knowing BA forum means it usually is) but was looking for a revised date for BA's switch from Ataturk/Istanbul old airport to the new one...or if there's no actual information (cannot find any in English and cannot read Turkish) whether there's any rumour or speculation?
It looks like even TK isn't going to be fully at the new site for a while
