Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post #4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...
For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times
Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.
If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.
Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here
Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread, MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.
Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).
Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

We’ve all been there though, right?!
The only single down side with flyer talk is that threads like this don’t allow you to book and hide yourself from any future price change. Up or down!

Trip to Perth in March
Hey guys,
I am needing to fly to Perth to be there by Mon 19.03 (ideally want to land latest Sunday night 18.03) and need to be back in London on Mar 25 to be back in the office on Monday Mar 26.
Now, my boss has not been telling me too much in regards of travel class apart from "maybe one of the legs can be done in higher than economy". So, me being over 190 cm tall, I am now scared of having to sit at the back for that 25+ hour trip for at least one leg.
I am coming to you in search of help for a few deals that would maybe convince my boss to have me fly C/WTP and to maximize tier points on the trip at the same time - was hoping to make Gold this year finally and this trip has the potential to provide some 6-700 tier points. Actually knowing you guys, one of you will probably come back and tell me I can make Gold with that trip alone...
I have had a brief look myself and it seems that I could get QF/EK return in C for around GBP 3.300.
However, my favourite at the moment is WAW-LHR-HKG-PER with CX which could be had for some 2.6k in C. I have to be in WAW in May anyway, so would just put the last leg of that flight to be my outbound for that trip and buy a one way to WAW and start the trip from there...
I also need to be in DUS in April so maybe some of you can find decent deals from/to DUS, but I have not done so yet. Generally I dont mind getting a one way ticket out of my personal pocket to anywhere in Europe to keep prices down and get C or at least WTP for the trip (maybe a cheap rate combo for C one way and WTP the other way can be found? - although ofc that would harm the tier points earned massively but still better than at the back for these flights)
Unfortunately my boss has not even given me guidance of where his threshold would be to let me fly C, as he will only start looking for his own ticket next week, so I want to be prepared for when he starts looking next week and be able to tell him "well I have seen a trip for GBP xxx in C which I think is much cheaper/better (or only x more than the Y trip) you just found... Him and I will not be required to fly together as he also needs to be in Singapore on the way home which is why I am hoping that if I can tell him "I found this price which is much cheaper than what you are doing" I can increase my chances of not having to fly coach.
I hope you understand my dilemma and that those of you who do these trips regularly and the travel agents among us can help me out here.
If it really makes a difference I would also not be totally against the idea of taking a day of holiday at either end of the trip to get the costs down.
Thanks a lot - any more info you need let me.

OSL LHR SIN SYD PER on BA and QF would be the best TP haul for about £2.5k and 960TP
QR from Oslo will be cheaper but only 560TP

EDIT - just to underline that, the premium economy price from LHR is about the same fare. You won't get much change out of £1500 for a WT+ leg to somewhere like SIN or KUL plus economy to Perth I suspect.
Great deal.

Booking OTP -> PHX
Short of being able to get Matrix Powertools working – does anyone have some advice on being able to book OTP -> PHX via the AA or BA websites directly? I can price up in IA Matrix with an overnight in JFK and routing via LHR / JFK / LAX, but cannot seem to get the same price and routings on AA/BA websites.

AA,com seams to be working with these fares if you search using multi city OTP-HEL, HEL-JFK, JFK-PHX and return. Select all airlines and business cabin and search by lowest price (I get an error when searching by selecting individual flights). It’s a bit of a pain looking through the options to find the one you want but it does work.
If you have the itinerary correctly priced in ITA Matrix, just use ITA Powertools to clickthrough to AA.com and your booking will be presented as it was in ITA - link here. Use the links in that post to work out how to use Powertools (it is very easy, and I cannot recommend this tool enough....).
Forget using BA.com for any complicated itineraries, quite frankly it is rubbish compared to AA.com.

exOTP Advanced Purchase Fare BA ILN8C8S4 to PHX
Some information below on this advanced purchase OTP fare. I think this does cover multiple US destinations, but this is highlighted for PHX which is particularly cheap.
Routings via HEL are possible so: OTP-LHR-HEL-JFK-LAX-PHX-LAX-JFK-HEL-LHR-OTP. Also bear in mind LHR-OTP is a short haul + route so earns 80 TPs one way in J, so a simple OTP-LHR- JFK-LAX-PHX-LAX-JFK- LHR-OTP would earn 80+140+140+40+40+140+140+80=800 TP.
The fare does cover travel dates for 2018. However, if you are looking for late 2018 you need to bear in mind that AA flights are only released at 330 days whilst BA flights are released at 355 days.
As it is an advanced purchase fare there is no explicit end date.
Example price:
OTP-PHX - £1,296
This allows positioning for your inbound TATL prior to the Sunday. You can therefore set off from PHX on Saturday arriving in to NYC during Saturday, have a night in NYC night, and then do your TATL on Sunday.
So 2 transfers in Europe and 2 transfers in the US each way. An overnight connection of up to 24 hrs between flights would be counted as a transfer, anything beyond that would be a stopover.
Stopovers can be done in Europe. Bear mind the cost of doing a stopover in London on the way out is a lot more expensive since APD is £150, so the total additional cost of adding a stopover in London would be €150 + £150 + any other airport fees. On the inbound if you did a stopover in London you would only pay the extra £26 APD for the LHR-OTP sector.

Why waste time and effort trying to plug all the information into AA.com (or the inferior BA.com)?
If you have the itinerary correctly priced in ITA Matrix, just use ITA Powertools to clickthrough to AA.com and your booking will be presented as it was in ITA - link here. Use the links in that post to work out how to use Powertools (it is very easy, and I cannot recommend this tool enough....).

As for what to put into matrix, scroll up through the thread and there is a screen shot of what to put and you just need to change your dates.

Thanks! Have tried using Powertools for the first time this evening for a good hour or so but when I click through - the price jumps up by $1k. Will keep playing around with it - I'm sure it's user error. If the flight is available in ITA matrix at a certain price, with a certain routing - then it must be possible to book right?
What are you trying book (specifically) and which dates?

Then you should be presented with the option to input a UK address:
This normally works, but sometimes there is a bit of availability/fare/currency fluctuation between ITA Matrix and the UK site availability (so just check you are happy with the price before committing)
I've just clicked through and it showed my itinerary with a 20p difference.
