Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post #4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...
For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times
Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.
If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.
Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here
Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread, MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.
Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).
Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

Hi @petez - there are various weekly BA CityFlyer flights from Manchester - I can’t remember precisely where, but a couple of Club Europe weekends away might be good enough for you?
Alternatively DUB-LHR-HEL (£400) can be done over a weekend; nested inside MAN-LHR-DUB (not checked prices) would be 200+160 TP in Club.

Well spotted, thanks florens!
So for @petez - 240 for a return DUB-LHR-HEL (£400), plus a mixed CE/ET return MAN-LHR-DUB (40+40+5+5) would be sufficient to get over 300TP.
You could even do 3 of the 4 legs in ET, as long as one of the 3 ET legs accrued 10 rather than 5TP - but worth being very careful with that, you'd not want end up with 295TP… Matrix allows you to specify particular fare buckets. Probably safest to do CE one way (40+40) and ET the other, as you're then home and dry.

Wow - I hadn't heard that before. So, you're saying that regardless, if I don't make Gold BA will just downgrade me to silver for the next year regardless of how many Tier points I have?

Getting creative..600tps in one trip to nyc
Hey
Ok so i've not flown much this year..and nothing on ba..and im going to lose silver unless i get 600tps. Ive got a biz flight to take to nyc in 2.5 wks and im trying to see if 600tps is actuall poss. Based out of Edi...is it poss. Im off to Sfo in cw in nov..after my tp yr ends..be nice not to be bronze after i come back...getting multicity dub-lhr-jfk for around 1550-1600 in cw or aa biz..but that will only give me 360..worthless..then in nov..i lose them. Was also thinking about trying to extend my tp yr by 2 wks..take advantage of 180 tps on outbound sfo trip..thus only leaving me with 60tps to make up on this nyc trip??? Can anyone help. Dates 7th-12th of sept. Thxs

Your best bet if you want to get Silver is to try to do one run in the gap between the end of your TP year and the start of the next. You'll have it for two years then and you still have status for that flight. I would say that a Qatar hop from the provinces somewhere would do, you'll get 560 TP plus some for positioning flights. You'll need 4 BA flights in the mix somewhere. If your TP year ends Nov 8 your SFO trip could be done with a hop in NY maybe?
[quite a number of edits later..] something like this, maybe?
https://www.google.co.uk/flights/#fl...02*.GBP.228802
There's a direct return to OSL from EDI on Norwegian from what I can see for positioning.
Obviously if your flight patterns are going to be the same this year and next it's questionable whether it's worth it.

No, if you let it lapse (I guess the TP year ends 8th November here), and you get it back during your next TP year, you will be Silver for the remainder of that TP year and will be silver the next. I should have said "the gap between the end of this TP year and the expiry of the card" really, but if you get Silver at any point after the TP year ends you get it for the remainder of that year (i.e. almost all of it in this case) and the next.

If i ask nicely..would ba give me a 2 wk extension to regain silver??
Heres my thinking..
If i can create a 420 tp trip to nyc in sept...get an extention..(8th to 22nd nov..2 wks) then on nov 15th..add the 180 tp from sfo trip..then voila..600tps??
Stupid idea??

You can ask for 14 days grace period, yes, very common and BA gives it without nudging, in most cases.
