So someone with a fake credit card can use the manual processing to their advantage when the POS doesn't work...

ON a recent trip, the CSM made an announcement that the aircraft was not supplied with the POS machine. All transactions by debit and credit card had to be processed manually .This meant writing down the credit card numbers and total payment (including the use of a calculator to add 1.70 + 1.50).

40 minutes into the flight, front crew still serving 4E.

Absolute madness. In that situation they should have a contingency; give it all for free!

On Saturday night's LGW-EDI csm made a pa saying card machines not working so everything to be done manually. Didn't impact on me as I was in CE but no idea if they completed service.

Just as a data point, I did a couple of sectors on airberlin (AB) last week (GVA-DUS and vv), although the aircraft were Dash 8 Q-400s operated by LGW Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter (HE), a small German airline. The European flights of airberlin have been completely BoB since October 2016.

On the first, lunchtime, flight there was almost no takeup at all, despite the flight being almost full - one person had a coffee, maybe someone at the front had something, but I don't think so. I had a snack and two mixers, one bitter lemon, the other tonic water. The snack was BiFi Roll XXL, a sort of salami sausage encased in crusty bread which I find quite good and filling. The drinks were €1.50 each, the salami €2.50. I paid cash (total €5.50). The trolley looked well stocked with sandwiches, snacks and all sorts. Guess the Germans don't really care about inflight service, least of all paying for it. No complaints, people just ignored the cabin crew. So, no crew interaction there.

Going South, I just had a coffee (which was instant, Sansibar coffee, but not too bad), cost €2.50. I brought my own cake from home, a homemade Streuselkuche! Again, takeup of the BoB trolley was low, but a bit better. People ordered mostly drinks- water, juice and such like.

Last night's LGW-EDI had no BoB at all, the gadget for taking payment hadn't been loaded and the captain took the decision to fly rather than wait 2 hours for one to turn up. The crew offered water & juice for free.

A good sensible crew. Much better than some who have flown offering nothing.

Bottled water or that awful cloudy 'tap' water? Of course for such a short flight this was the correct course of action, even waiting 20 minutes would have been wrong.

I don't know which kind of water it was as I was lucky enough to get my first-ever upgrade so I drank champagne (just in case the water wasn't safe, you understand... ;) )

So Alex Cruz says:

“We met our targets on the first day and the first week and since then sales have increased significantly. People are buying more. We are releasing traffic stats today and you will see an increase, it is almost as though they are flying with us because of BOB.

But that's not what twitter and flight reviews say. Take a look at skytrax and see all BA flight reviews. BA is being battered and rarely receives a mark that is bigger than 5. It is mostly 1 and 2s. The average score is 5/10. Soon it will drop to 4 if the trend continue which is a complete disgrace. By comparison:
- Aegean 8/10
- Air France 6/10
- Aer Lingus 7/10
- Lufthansa 7/10
- Swiss 7/10
- KLM 7/10

My example might be bizarre but,

But Cruz is like Kim Jong-Un who assures everything is running better than ever in the country but the reality is the complete opposite.

The menu I looked at onboard today said apple pay was accepted. Is this new?

streetmagix Apr 7, 2017 8:28 pm

I hope no one else has posted this, I couldn't see it anywhere else.

Looks like just as they have sorted out the contactless issues (mostly!) the goalposts have shifted slightly.

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/new...-security-flaw

Both VISA and AMEX are going to require all contactless transactions to be 'online'. Mastercard will continue to work 'offline' for the time being.

I know Wifi is going to be rolled out on short haul soon™ but will it be good/reliable enough? At the very least it'll require updated software/firmware, new training and more testing (in an ideal world anyway).

STEALTH EDIT: Amex are still 'considering it' but seeing as VISA are pushing ahead I'm 90% certain AMEX and Mastercard will adopt it too.

A few weeks new, I guess. See posts 1416 et passim above.

So, all the twitter feedback and verified Skytrax reviews are essentially for a different BA by Cruz's comments. But he is paid to uphold a positive outlook as well as feed us spin for the sake of profits.

The Easter and summer peaks in Europe will be the real test for BA.

My God, those comments are an absolute panning. Downgrade to 3 Star Airline this year perhaps? BA's NPS at the moment must be a sight to see.
