Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. The guide to using ITA matrix in post #4 (see here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest. AMS and JER easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seems the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post (here) MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports)

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520. Also the BA fare for LHR-HEL-TLL at ~£235 is still available and would get 200 TPs for a return.

Hmm, I've been somewhat out of this market the last 10 months, but is the trend latterly to more non-changeable fares?
I'd noted that factor too on the ex-Scandinavia INX6T7S6 which ended a couple of days back.

The non-changeable bit does seem to have come in within the last 6 months or so. Certainly seeing it more on exEU I class fares now, whereas before they were changeable as you say.

My TP year ends 8th Jan, I have flights over Christmas to US and Carribean that get me 400TP's.

I now have 2 options for a spare weekend in November for a TP run. I can't take any time off work so will have to be a Saturday/Sunday only (Friday night departure and early Monday morning okay).

Option 1 (cheaper and easier) - To get gold by 8th Jan, I need a TP run for 280TP's.
Best option I have found is LHR-HEL-TLL rtn in J Depart Sat, return Sun morning then do LHR-NCL rtn in J on Sunday. About £580 for 280 TP. Not a fantastic return but I have wanted to fly the A350 so this ticks the box on that front.

Are there any other better priced options for 280TP??

Option 2 - To get gold before my Christmas flights, I need 665TP

Best I have found is this:

This gets 620TP, I'll also enjoy F on both 747 and 787, which I haven't done before.

Is there any way of getting 665 out of this within the time constraints??
Only thing I can think of is LGW-GLA on Friday night, GLA-LGW-JER for positioning on Sat but that seems a bit risky

Any help or advice will be appreciated

Do you live in LON or JER? How are you making your way to and from your true home?

London, I'll do a positioning flight as a JER B2B (I'll move the JER-LGW flight to later in the morning)

Hilton at airport.

Cumulus Resort, Cumulus City and Holiday Inn. They share complimentary shuttle, runs every 20 minutes.

Airport Hotel Pilotti, very basic. Has shuttle, sauna, buffet breakfast included in rate.

590 TP Run Reqd Before December

Hello,

I am a FT novice, so apologies if this post is not in the correct location or slightly off topic.

I am currently BA Silver with status running out 8th Dec. Looking to do a TP run before then to retain Silver status (need 590 TP's). Can someone point me to current best value deals? Date wise I am very flexible after end of Sept. I live in London- presuming Ex Eu is best bet?

Thanks in advance.

VCE-BKK is £1,194 on Qatar Airways for 560 TP. You'd need to get the remaining 30 TPs (and however many BA flights) separately but the positioning flights would account for at least 10 - and doing one leg LGW-VCE in business would take you over the TP threshold. Depends how many qualifying flights you currently have.

Other options would be a series of weekend trips in short-haul business to some of the longer-distance destinations such as Madeira, Catania, Reykjavik, etc. - starting at about £250-300 for 160 TP, so you'd need three or four and so your overall cost is likely to be similar.

Of course, if you need 590 TPs, you're better off letting your silver status expire by December and and earning the full 600 TPs between the end of your TP year and 31 January, when you will soft-land to bronze. This would give you silver until 31 January 2020 instead of 2019. It's also worth pointing out that you could get all the practical benefits of silver as a blue travelling in business class - would it actually cost you £1,200 or so to upgrade all your planned travel next TP year to business? And if so, would it be worth it? (Of course if you do a lot of short-haul travel with an economy only policy, it probably is - likewise if you actually want to travel on the TP run!)

If you only have 10 TPs this year (one flight?) then are you sure you will get any use of the Silver benefits next year? A TP run sounds like a lot of money to give to BA for just a single "free" lounge visit.

If you get to Silver this year by 8 Dec you will have it until end of January 2019

If you do the TP run (600 TPs) on 9 December, you will have Silver until end of January 2020

Just a thought

Yeah that's a valid point regarding the Dec cut off point. Unlikely I will hit Silver in the next 12 months without a TP run as no longer flying with work, but now accustomed to the benefits...!

Sounds like a 600 TP run after then may be sensible. Any deals atm that far in advance?

Appreciate the swift response. Thanks.

Don't know if anyone has seen but INV-HNL is possible for under 1.8k for 1060TP

Limited dates at the end of November...

Plenty of VCE-BKK availability for January. £1,162 via Kayak.

LGW-VCE with the return leg in I (discounted business) starts at £178. £10 more if you only do the outbound in business instead.

Then any two extra (non-reward) BA flights before your TP year expiry and you're sorted.
