2017 POUG rate tracker

Please add your own successful results to the follow list including the month/year when the POUG was offered to you. Please delete any figures from 2017 or earlier if you have a 2018 price. Previous data lives on via post 2.

UPDATED TO: Post #418

POUGs are offered via BA.com and the App Manage My Booking via a distinctive banner (example from MMB below). You cannot get a POUG by telephoning, however the service centres can complete a POUG which falls over mid transaction. They are offered on cash and Avios redemptions but typically not on complex routings, BA Holidays or travel agency bookings until OLCI stage. POUGs on Avios redemptions won't get you additional TPs/Avios, but they will on revenue tickets.

Short haul routes from LON to/from Europe
A price in pounds indicates a ticket issued from London, other currencies indicate prices for tickets issued overseas (e.g. singles or returns originating from CDG priced in Euros). Multiple prices indicate a range of fares are on offer. Note that LCY prices currently seem to be on a different basis to LGW and LHR (cheaper, in other words).

Just a word of warning (not necessarily to you, but to those who are not aware) that due to the fact that specific seat allocations usually have to be purchased or require elite status, what looks like a mostly empty WT (or WTP or even CW under some circumstances) cabin can start to look awfully packed come check-in and/or the hour of the flight!

LHR-LAX I'm getting WT+ to CW at £869 on the return (overnight) flight back to LHR per person (two travelling) in January 2019. It's rather pricey and I'd hoped to use GUF2 but there's no reward availability that week so I'm trying to work out if I can afford it!

I suppose I'd hoped for something closer to £500 per person but looking at the wiki that seems unrealistic. Any comments on whether I can hope for a lower offer?

EDI-LGW ET-CE £70 (AUG 18) on outbound. Have got enough for Bronze for another year (YE 8th Nov) so don't need it for the TP. Maybe get a free upgrade at airport!

My LAX-LHR Poug was offered in the middle of August 2018 for a flight in early 2019 - that's four and half months!

LHR-YYZ Sept 2018 W->J £495
YYZ-LGW Sept 2018 W->J £333

Fare difference between W and J at time of booking (and ~same at time of offer) £1000 outbound, £900 on the return, so good offer.

Upgraded inbound YYZ-LGW.
Would have done outbound as well but I am traveling with a group of staff from my company (all on separate tickets as they are starting in different places but we converge on LHR for the same flight) and don't want to make it look too bad. Will pretend I got an Opup on the way home

STN-NCE October 2018 ET -> CE £99
NCE-LHR October 2018 ET -> CE €189

Outbound is a bad offer as hand baggage only (HBO) fare (my wife's fare) was only £49 and the CE fare at time of booking (and still available) was £136. Same POUG offer for my booking (ET with checked baggage).
Inbound is not such a bad offer, but still no way near as cheap as I have had previously, wife's HBO was €57 and CE at time of booking (and still available) was €262. Same POUG offer for my €76 checked baggage fare, so POUG makes CE same cost (+€3) as it would have been buying CE to start with. Wondering if these will drop in price closer to the flight dates.

So annoying they don't offer it for the return. I looked at the time and they wanted £453, when I looked the other day 2 CE RAK-LGW was in the 700's for 2 CE tickets! I know it's a long flight ( possibly the longest SH on the route?) but if they can POUG for under £100 then there's no way i'm paying that sort of money. It's my Birthday trip so on the return I might try smiling sweetly, dropping it into conversation & see where that gets me( nowhere I imagine!). The outbound will be my Silver flight so at least i'll have some status to back it up although again i'm not that optimistic.

EDIT: Back down to £453 / 226.50 but still no dice for that money.

I managed to get CE tickets for 240.00. Two friends booked their flights a week later where CE was over 350.00, ET being 170.00, so they booked ET. Now only being offer the outbound upgrade for 99.00.

They could try blag it and call up saying they got a POUG if it's still active on your app/ ba.com. idk if BA have a way to know who did or didnt get the offer just that it's current or not. Presumably there is no way for them to know hence this thread. It would make their CE £270 so not much more than you paid and for a fairly long flight possibly worth it if they can afford it when you think how much a few rounds of drinks is going to cost and 2 'meals' / snacks. Plus they'd get to use the lounge which is VERY nice imo.

Are the prices noted one way (in or outbound)? And do they apply to AA flights under a BA codeshare?
