2017 POUG rate tracker

Please add your own successful results to the follow list including the month/year when the POUG was offered to you. Please delete any figures from 2017 or earlier if you have a 2018 price. Previous data lives on via post 2.

UPDATED TO: Post #418

POUGs are offered via BA.com and the App Manage My Booking via a distinctive banner (example from MMB below). You cannot get a POUG by telephoning, however the service centres can complete a POUG which falls over mid transaction. They are offered on cash and Avios redemptions but typically not on complex routings, BA Holidays or travel agency bookings until OLCI stage. POUGs on Avios redemptions won't get you additional TPs/Avios, but they will on revenue tickets.

Short haul routes from LON to/from Europe
A price in pounds indicates a ticket issued from London, other currencies indicate prices for tickets issued overseas (e.g. singles or returns originating from CDG priced in Euros). Multiple prices indicate a range of fares are on offer. Note that LCY prices currently seem to be on a different basis to LGW and LHR (cheaper, in other words).

Currently being offered LGW-PUJ W>J for £432. It was £301 for several weeks but just rose. Given there are 4 of us travelling next week, I think we will stick in W which is fine on a day flight anyway.

Also MXP return in May being offered at £149 each way. They must be joking!

Offered (and took) £89 for LCY-AGP into CE. At the gate they were looking for 3 volunteers to offload onto an LHR-MAD-AGP routing same day (but much later) for £350 each. Strange economics

Assume they had a CE row with 3 people and wanted to get ££ for the fourth seat, but in any case, were overbooked and had to shed a few Y pax

I snapped up the £129 POUG to round off my OTP-PHX run next week. Interestingly economy is still showing as ‘not available’ despite the two of us having upgraded. This flight may be seriously oversold with a whole week to,go!

I'm flying later this month LGW to Malta one way, and have the upgrade availability in the app (and in MMB on the website).
Whilst I would ordinarily jump at the opportunity to upgrade, mainly for the 80 tier points (plus I'm not paying myself as it's a work trip), I cannot in good conscience proceed at the crazy £260.00 BA are asking (same price in App and in MMB).

Is there any likelihood this price will drop closer to the date of the flight or after OLCI?
I did check the price in the wiki above and the price mentioned is €119.00 if memory serves.

LHR-LAX-LHR Apr 2018

Not really fussed about the outbound but by not taking it I can confirm the Special Offer price for WTP>CW has fluctuated, following this pattern: £783 / £739 / £639 / £609 / £869 in the weeks between booking and traveling

Snapped up the return overnight leg WTP>CW for £540 as soon as I could after booking.

Having taken the POUG mentioned above I noticed that the CE cabin quickly filled from only two occupied seats to all 16 seats occupied. The flight is now off sale, so I assume well oversold. Could be interesting ........

Was hoping to find an existing datapoint for this (curious whether the amount is going to get any lower), but nothing yet, so: Just booked LHR→ICN for 3rd of May, immediately got a POUG WTP→CW for ₤540. Even though the ticket price difference is >₤1k. :-)

Guess I'll wait for a few days to think whether I care to upgrade, update the wiki eventually when I figure out how low it may go.

I've been offered £149 for LHR - GIB, 2 days before the flight (didn't take it yet).

Edit: they claim it's a "special limited offer"... I assume it won't drop below this amount then.
For the record, the same upgrade if using avios is £13 + 7500 points.

MAD offered for £159 each way on a day trip ticket. Would have been cheaper to have booked CE a time of booking. Wiki updated.
