Acceptable amount to steal from the Galleries Lounge

I feel guilty if I stick a packet of crisps in my bag.

Today I watched one person raid the bar in galleries north. Amongst other things I saw her cram 4 cans of Heineken in her bag.

What is acceptable?

I guess it's up to your own morals. Some might be totally against it others, how much space have you got!

Don't really have a problem with it myself though never take more than a snack and drink.

That being said I was at the Open Day on Saturday, on some of the aircraft, saw people putting the Club World headphones on the seats into their bags, they mustn't realise that they won't work at home, oh well!!

I think that any theft is unacceptable regardless of who or where it is from

I don't see any reason to feel guilty about a packet of crisps or two and a drink. There's really nothing of value that can be lifted from the Galleries lounges anyway. I have to admit I've done that a few times and might be more likely to now that the C-Gates Starbucks freebie is gone.

I have seen a lady totally shame-free emptying the biscuit jar (next to the coffee machines in GC) and putting them on a plate. Now that was impressive.

I agree theft is wrong, and certainly do not agree with it.

But taking something that is presented as free of charge, such as crisps in a lounge isn't really theft, is it?

I do agree with people taking snacks for their flight from the lounge. The lounge's supply is with effect unlimited, but onboard there are only x amount crisp packets or soda cans. If you're particularly hungry or thirsty, by all means, take some food/drink with you!

I've had Admirals Clubs actively encourage me to take food and drinks on occasions where I only have a few minutes in the lounge. Smaller outstation BA lounges will also often ask if you want to take any water or small snacks for the flight.

The BA lounge in PHX gives everyone a small Toblerone upon exiting the lounge.

Otherwise I don't take anything, other than perhaps a half finished bottle of water.

Yes, when the lounges ( like ones I have been in recently ) state that the food and beverages are not to be taken from the lounge and are for consumption in the lounge

The priority pass lounge at BHD , adjacent to the BA Exec lounge has a sign which says they will prosecute people removing food and drinks items from the lounge as it is theft which is I think a clear statement. Unfortunately BA makes no clear statement on the matter which allows people to justify removing whatever their conscience allows: in my case nothing but for others enough for an afternoon picnic.

I find the title of this thread the most bizarre since it is asking how much theft is ok

Is there a metric that can be used in shops in the UK where a certain level of theft is ok and if so what value is now acceptable to steal from shops? I assume that a mars bar from a shop in T5 would be acceptable to steal , since that is small

Theft is theft.

If the question is, how much can I likely get away with, that is a different question.

If the question is, "the staff has offered me something, may I take it" that is a different question.

I'm sure if BA have a problem with passengers taking drinks and snacks from the lounge, BA will do something about it.

Did anyone ever take non-food items from the lounge? Maybe you saw a nice pillow you subsequently stuffed into your bag. Or how about the teapot? Art on the wall?
