Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?

Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Prospero's guide to using ITA matrix in post 3 (here along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or less
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest. AMS and JER easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year)

Or a slightly more interesting fun run

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post (here) MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports)

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VLL via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520

You have decided to book the busiest day for business travel at the last minute. I did have a look around but there is nothing compelling.

If you are happy to spend £1.5 k we might be able to do something but it would be a poor deal.

Thank You Magical Beings

You have confirmed what I had expected. LAX NAS is also great deal, but it would require overnight. I appreciate your help! Thank you!

Just booked AMS-DOH-BKK return in J for £757 (£787 minus cashback) - 560 TPs so I put that at £1.35/TP.

Note it was a booking for 2 - only way to get these prices with the current QR promo ex-AMS.

Something nice also is that TCB tracked as 2x £30 (where really it should have only been 1x).

TP run needed

Im looking for a TP run to be done later in the year, maybe October, but booked before 28/4 to get me through to silver for my next year.

I can't do anything that touches the US for visa reasons. I don't have one and will not apply for one. Other than that quite open to anywhere else, so i wondered if you TPexperts had any suggestions. Also, it will be in WT or WTP....

Howdy Forum

So I have been lurking for a while now and ready to ask the guru's on here for some advice.

I have been BA Silver for 4 years now and wish to do everything possible to keep this ahead of the news rules at the end of April.

So I have an opportunity to visit Hawaii in June (work purposes) and would like to know what would be a optimum route to take from LHR or LGW to maximise the Tier Points.

Class will probably be WT however there may be an option of Club for some of the journey

Thanks in advance and keep up the great work :-)

Weekend TP run for 300 TPs ex-LHR

My collection year ends 8 May. Looking for a quick 300 TP run to Gold. Weekend 9-12 April ex-LHR. Do you agree that the cheapest I can do on short notice is the usual 2 rt CE tickets to HEL (or any other short haul+ routes for 80 TPs in CE one way?

Just booked the wife and I with QR ex AMS to DPS in Ocotber.

£1,225 each for 560 TPs, so £2.18 per point.

I reckon that's pretty good seeing as we were going anyway and 787 business class for all legs!

You should try and incorporate as many over-2000-miles segments into your itinerary as possible. If you fly TATL in WT, I guess you will get booked into economy on US domestic legs, and the long segments bring 35 TPs even for lowest economy fares (for booking before April 28th, at least). So, something along these lines:

LHR-JFK-PHX-HNL
LHR-PHL-PHX-HNL
LHR-JFK-LAX-HNL

Each of those, assuming TATL is in WT and the domestic is in economy should give you (35+35+35)*2=210 TPs for an RT.

Edit: Sorry, got my WT and WT+ confused, corrected now.

On June 25th a window for cheap ex-EU J fares open, so if you can travel on/after that date and don't mind positioning to Dublin (or some other European destination), you will get Silver from this trip alone pretty much any way you book it. As long as it's booked before April 28th, of course.

Can someone remind me the route to get gold in one go for around £1500? A friend of mine wants to give it a go.

Thanks!
