Im heading out on the 27th from Newcastle if your interested in joining me, back into newcastle on 31st.

I'm getting £2,173 for all the date combinations I tried. I'm guessing I've either done something wrong, or have missed the boat!?

Departure from JER 26/12 arriving back LHR 31/12. A lot of A class availability has disappeared since I checked fares over the weekend. Indeed, I left it quite late by booking on Monday rather than the day before. I wanted the 2pm flight from LAX-HNL which was available when I checked on Sunday. I made my booking the next day and had to settle for the 4.25pm flight instead.

Am I entering this incorrectly?

@Jamier45... I'm doing something wrong as I'm not getting that price!

LIH on your way back is forcing you onto another fare.

My search would look like this (copy+paste) the bold bits

From:
JER, NCL, MAN :: F LON F JFK,BOS,MIA US,AA PHX,LAX US,AA / alliance oneworld; f ..I5UKJB
To:
HNL, OGG, LIH, KOA :: US,AA PHX,LAX US,AA JFK,BOS,MIA F LON F / alliance oneworld; f ..I5UKJB

Difference is: I have allowed the Matrix to be very flexible in finding routes that all have the same TP value (although you need to ignore results with JFK-LAX if you want the maximum TPs), however I have told the Matrix only to look with fares on the I5UKJB basis, so it doesn't waste time trying to find other fares that will be much more expensive. Also I require US/AA flight numbers within the US.

You can use the calendar search (start 21st Dec) or look on individual days.
  • Do not chose the MIA-PHX flight, it is less than 2000 miles.
  • JFK-LAX is comfortable and widely available but only gets 140 TPs. Your choice.
  • Make sure you travel into the same Hawaiian airport as you leave!
  • Consider carefully whether you really want to start and finish in JER
  • You can get more availability by changing JFK to NYC but watch out for that ugly cross-city change
  • Be especially careful that sectors don't book into Y instead of F (due to insufficient availability). There is very scant availability between Hawaii and the West Coast right now.
  • The Matrix may miss some options and it may give results that are no longer available.

You could change JFK,BOS,MIA to (e.g.) WAS to go via Washington DC.

Thanks all for your help! I will have a more detailed look, now I know how, when I get back this evening.

I think there might be a fair few people from here in HNL over the holiday period!

Some US sectors are already overbooked in F. I would get your seat reservations sorted pronto.

Seats all selected days ago, Sir, on BA and AA sectors ^

No point in being Silver if you don't select at the time of booking

Edit: whoops, too late. I just booked it. AA's MCT for dom-dom connections is apparently only 30 mins. LAX T4 is only a small terminal, and I'll have only hand luggage anyway.
Indeed LAX T4 is very small, so if the flight arrives on time then it will take just a few minutes to get to the gate. However you better look up alternative flights if this is purely TP related. There is ongoing construction work around T4 and that is slowing things up. In normal situations you could arrive 15 minutes early into LAX, but I've been an hour late into LAX almost entirely due to headwind. If you do get irrop'd into economy on a later service this may not be a good outcome!

Don't know if you found anything but I thought I'd let you know about this, I can't do a 4 day layover and the return flight is too awkward for me so I won't be getting this fare:'(
