777-300 F seats

Hi all, husband and I have our first First next May LHR -> PKX, currently the F cabin is empty and we're in 1E/F. We are hoping to sleep after dinner on the flight as we have a hectic schedule once we land. Is the feeling that there's a good chance of disturbance from the galley in row 1 on the 777-3? Should we move to 2E/F? I must say I like the idea of a row 1 boarding card (novelty factor for me!). Thanks in advance.

Can I help you Oct 15, 2019 10:02 am

I would change it to 2EF if I were you.

I agree with Can I help you. The novelty of a row 1 boarding pass isn't worth the risk.

I'm travelling back from JFK on BA182, seat selection is showing a 12 seat configuration:

Can anyone remind me of a couple of things as it's been a while since I travelled on a 777 in F, is the front or back of the cabin quieter? I can see the galley symbol at the rear, but wasn't sure whether that's for F or CW? Other question is whether you normally deplane from 1L or 2L? I've a connection and want to get off swiftly.

From memory I'd say the galley and toilets serving First are at the front of the cabin so most foot traffic will pass by row 1. Generally speaking 747 is the only aircraft where I think row 1 is the quietest. Exit door always seems a bit hit or miss - even the crew often don't know until it happens.

Galley at front is used for F, galley at rear of F is used for CW, to the extent that people will be eating on that flight. Front maybe marginally quieter than rear, depending where crew congregate. With that seatmap, I’d be in 2K like a shot.

Disembarking at LHR more likely to be 2L, though 1L is possible. Frankly you’re talking about a few seconds difference at most in F.

You may well be sleeping on that flight, but if requiring any IFE, a loaded tablet is a good idea - aged Rockwell Collins IFE on the 12F 772s.

Thanks Fripperies and Oaxaca for the replies... think I'll split the difference and go 2A or 3A to hedge my bets on the quietness front ^

And, of course, you're right about disembarkation, being honest I just get a bit grumpy with ditherers so like to be first off so this is a proper first world problem ;)

I would have to say that row 1 on the A380 is pretty quiet (not as quiet as the 747 though) because there is no galley forward of row 1.

Agreed - 1K is the best seat in the cabin IMHO

The only time I tried 1K on an A380 there was a tall locker in close proximity with a door that banged. Has anyone else experienced that? Anyway, once bitten twice shy so for me it's 2K on the A380 along with all the rest except 747s.

I have seen complaints but never experienced it myself.

Ditto, same as RB211. I remember when the A380 first went in to service and there were reports of 1K being horrific (well, in the context of First!) because there is a cupboard to the left that the crew kept going in. Personally, I've sat in 1A three times and 1K twice - both times 1K was quieter as I found there was more foot traffic down the left aisle with crew going to (presumably) cockpit and rest areas. Neither time has the cupboard caused me any issues, and, if available, 1K would always be my seat of choice.

Have booked my first F and switched to these seats based on this. Looking forward to it.

777-300 (4 seats)

This summer four of us (2 adults 2 children) will be returning from HKG on BA28 which seems to be a 777-300. I've currently reserved 1E/F and 2E/F which is close to the forward galley, but wondering if I should go a row back to 2E/F and 4E/F which is close to the F loos and CW galley.

Thoughts?
